My 458 did not have much understeer at all.

When you're going around a downhill corner trying to take it at a speed that is not ideal, and let's face it this guy probably had never driven a Ferrari, that all equates to serious trouble (plus we don't know he even downshifted correctly).

Bad news all around.

All about the weight transfer under hard braking/panic then letting off throttle, not getting back on throttle.

On the track I have to modulate some cars on and off power to rotate or else you get crazy understeer (AWD cars primarily) or just cars with street tires that are overinflated and greasy

If he were to ride it out with throttle he wouldn't have plowed

I would never get behind the wheel of a Ferrari without some sort of training. That is a whole lot of car if you aren't used to it.

That's what I was thinking. He panicked and tried to stop when he should have perhaps accelerated and hoped the tires werent shit.

That just seems so avoidable.
I would have thought a modern Ferrari would have handled that curve just fine if he had just feathered the throttle and steered through it.

Agree and that goes for any car not just a Ferrari.

It would be better to say he doesn't know how to drive a car than he doesn't know how to drive a Ferrari like it requires special training.

Now if it was a Koenigsegg I would agree.

Anything done in a Ferrari gets you a headline and millions of views/tweets/retweets...anything with Koenigsegg not so much

Is that what you eat with a lattè?

Downshift inside the curve... well there's the result of that.

Or maybe he tried to stop it suddenly?

Should have just held throttle position...curve wasn't that sharp, 458 would have handled it fine.

I gather he did both. Big turns are for turning not shifting or braking.

Did the GoPro come with the car? To monitor driving?

Wonder if the front tires are no good to begin with.

That wasn't an accident. That was stupidity + incompetence = avoidable collision. Glad no one suffered bad consequence of a fool's action.

Being used to rear engine 2 wheel drive air cooled there's a voice in my head saying 'slow in, fast out'. This guy is clueless.

Looked like he accelerated towards the bend too, decelerating towards it then slight power through the bend keeps car stable and speed constant and safe assuming the speed is right prior to entering the bend. Another example too much money too little talent. And a show off to boot!!

Midengine cars have very different driving characteristics than regular cars. The snap oversteer on Mk2 Toyota MR2's was renowned for killing teenagers for example.
