Thanks for all the comments guys. If it keeps running fine, I will leave it until later in the year when I plan to get it serviced and polished up and see what magic the RSC can do.

Ouch... But better than I expected from description. Would just wear and wait for service to consider options on aesthetics repair if running well.

Here in The Netherlands we say: Shit happens !

I would definitely do a waterproof test by a RCS !
To check that there is no crack in the glass (on the underside where you can not see it).

If it was my watch I would bring it too a RSC for a check inside.

Checking: rotor jewel & pivot, case screws.

Too bad for you 😣😖

Nothing wrong with some scars on a tool watch. It was built to stand up to some punishment and I'd be proud of it.

I Agree. Looks as if the metal is brittle, yet we know that the SS that Rolex uses is not brittle, but rather malleable. Puzzling...

Priority is fix the tile first. Sharp edges may cut your foot.

You beat me to it... lol. That is a story and a half to anyone that cares to listen and a testament to the sheer inner strength and fortitude of these ROLEX watches..

Congrats !

Leave it. It's a rugged watch and meant to have a little signs of use on it in my opinion. Quite honestly, I think you faired well compared to what could have happened with the watch. I have heard stories of those who need a whole service in addition.

Doesn't look bad at all! Keep it as is. Otherwise they're going to seriously polish that down and you'll regret it later

For folks that can't understand the damage that can do, she is 5'4" but watch fell from an average height kitchen counter, much less than her height.
Destroyed the crystal, hands and dial.
$2800 later, repaired by RSC.
Fortunately it was covered by insurance.

If I had no choice, would leave your watch as is but it would drive me nuts every time I look at it.
Same here, but luckily the only damage was the sapphire crystal.

Yes - I would say the DSSD won the fight. It picked up a scar but killed the tile!

I had a similar incident ...

I brought it to a jeweler friend of mine and had him clean it up ever so slightly just to take off the roughness out of the ding, I asked him to go as light as possible and be careful not to alter the edge/angle.

Was just interested in getting it finished so when I ran my my finger over it, i wouldn't notice it so much.

The whole thing took 3 minutes, It came out perfect.

I'm very happy I did it.

Absolutely right.
Sometimes it's best to let sleeping dogs lay.

That polish job will remove a lot of material which can never be replaced.
To go forward with that Mid-case would require Laser welding prior to polishing.
Alternately, a new Mid-case may be required to get a good result.

I would definately leave it there for a few more services without polishing before commiting to fix it.
See how you feel about it then.

The right thing to do would be to laser weld then send in for internal check, then flip it for a new one but it's an expensive endeavor
