That color!!! wow I had never seen that on an M3 before, I had only seen the Miami blue 991. Why not just jump into a Miami Blue Porsche instead since those are already right up your alley?

To go against the grain here, I'd also consider an Audi RS7 or even a new Cadillac CTS-V (granted I may be biased)

Sounds a bit like the jag supercharged v8 which isn't a bad thing.

Eh, new 8er is going to be interesting, but nowhere as gorgeous as the E31. And given BMW's penchant of late to slap M badges on everything, I think the M8 is definitely going to go into production, unlike the E31 M8. Different price point? Yeah, $300k+ USD.

From what you have posted, Id say an AMG is probably a better fit.

Mercedes Benz... The Best, or Nothing.

I'd pick the AMG, but I'm biased

The AMG is the brute of the class with luxury infused. It looks the part and looks expensive. I feel the M3/4 looks gaudy, child boy racer and below average in the luxury department. Go AMG, it truly makes you feel great.

Sorry DT, but I can't help but agree.

It doesn't translate into the entire lineup. But to me, the M3 is disappointing. Then again, it's a legend so it has a lot to live up to. But this version, it just doesn't do it for me.

I personally thought the C63 interior was a bit shnitzy. Most people don't go the whole way with their M3/M4 and get the Full Merino leather since the price gets closer to 100k.

Also, I'm not a fan of the drive. If you want to have a blast every time you jump in, get the M. If you want to ride a car that feels as heavy as an SUV, get the C63.

I respect AMG. The engine and exhaust combos are to die for, especially the old 6.2L NA V8. If I was to go AMG route it would the higher end models 150K+. The C63 just seems like a "starter" AMG, while the 3/4 series BMW is the highlight of the brand.

If you want a large big body, go Mercedes.
If you want fun and sport, go BMW.

I'm contemplating getting an E46 coupe in Laguna Seca Blue. Wife would be pissed if I showed up with another car though

Not that there is a wrong answer with either option...I'm biased --I'm a big M fan-- so I'd say M3 ---

I love my M4

I love this! I used to have a Laguna blue hard top 6-speed. Is yours supercharged or turbo to get to 410?

UPDATE!

So I went and test drove the Alfa. I'd say it drives much the same as the M3, wayyy better than the c63S. Also the sound is much better seeing as it has that Ferrari derived motor.

Only thing I'd say is, it didn't quite feel as expensive as the m3 for the money. Not all of the materials were up to par I'd say. Also the door is sort of small, I'm a tall person and I found it a bit awkward to step inside.

So as it stands, the alfa is out. the merc is out. However, the M3 hasn't completely won my heart over. I revisited and to me it sounds a bit too robotic if that makes sense. Is there any other 4 door sports saloon I'm missing?

My answer is strictly from a reliability and confidence standpoint.

I have owned two BMW's and two Mercedes.

The Mercedes are hands down more reliable. The BMW's were great to drive when they were not in the shop. I would not buy another BMW.

Good luck.

Are we talking regular BMW or the M engine? Because the M engine are solid

The panamera of course. I would have it over any of these choices.

Non M BMW's although I did not have any engine problems with either car.

In my X5 50i, I burn excessive oil. It's a known issue.

My dealership actually gives me two quartz to carry around with me in case I need to fill it.

I love the car, but I'll not keep it past the warranty.

Honestly, new M's are rock solid as long as you don't mess with them IE tune them or push them too far above their limits.

Jaguar XE S if you really want to go full on sports mode. Many reviews prefer this to the M3.

C63 if you still want a touch of luxury while flooring it.

Post warranty ownership is like driving around a ticking time bomb. Especially the 50i. What do you see yourself in once it's up?

I've owned a few M's and they've all been rock solid except an X5M that blew the turbos 2k miles into ownership.

I'm not a huge fan of the panamera, it drives phenomenally but, it just doesn't have the looks to back it up.
