I don't think an Apple Watch simplifies life.

That said, I use to lease cars and I bought the last two cash and it feels great. (Japanese I'm not a lunatic).

. . . . . except maybe make you regret selling your watches.
I respectfully disagree. I would imagine it would change things all right but for the worse. I’m on 24/7 call so am basically tethered to my phone. If I had one of those Apple watches, I’d never get five seconds peace. I’m a total Apple fanboy but I wouldn’t wear one of those things if I was paid.

the hulk is probably worth twice as much as the old-model explorer. If you want to raise cash, that's the one you should sell

I'd keep the 16570 unless you really don't like it

Watches don't excite me nearly as much as they used too.

I've been more drawn back to cars lately. (Great way to loose money, but isn't all this about emotion anyway?)

I have two AP,s, and I'm happy with them. Every time of late when a potential trade/deal has popped up, I haven't gone trough with it, as in the end I know I won't be any "happier" with the other watch. The "new watch smell" wears off fast!

OP, I'd say listen to yourself. There has been a watch-craze now, where many have almost felt obligated to buy expensive watches. It has become something of the new "Beemer", to show the world "I have arrived". All wealthy people I know use; 1 No watch at all, 2 a Submariner (or the like in the under 10K category).

It tends in my observations be people like me, who are definitely not wealthy who sport the 50K+ retail watches. Perhaps to show off?

Similar thoughts over here

I'd like to enjoy life more discreetly and modestly. Have already quit instagram. Barely use FB except to stay in touch with family. Fortunately have never been on snapchat

I ordered a simple blue-dial IWC diver and plan to make it my daily. I'll also keep a BLNR and a Grand Seiko on hand for occasional use

The Facebook watch groups I'm on (made one myself) are to an extent just Bragging platforms. I'm guilty of that too.

Heck, I wouldn't have to insure the Apple watch!

Does anybody else think life would be "simpler" with only one (less expensive) watch?

Knowing me, I'd sell my Rolexes and regret it. I may try only wearing an Apple watch and store my Rolexes for a couple weeks and see how I feel...I could always return the Apple watch.

Your thoughts are appreciated.
You insure your Rolexes? I have Pateks, an AP and a Voutilainen none of which are insured, but I live in a pretty safe place.
About simpler I disagree, we are already hooked to our phones, I would never ad more digital connection. And you can't compare a mechanical movement which should work a lifetime if taken care of, to a limited lifespan gadget which has 2-3 years.
But hey if you want to go ahead, I would never do it...

I don't think it's to show off when you wear AP's, PP's or even worse Voutilainen like I do as well, you will get a whole lot more attention with a 8k SS Rolex than with my 100k Voutilainen, in all the years, NO ONE has ever noticed one of my Pateks or my AP, and that's the way I like it, of course if all your friends are WIS, mine aren't, except the few I befriended here and know in real, then sure maybe it's showing off, the richest guy I know, well worth 40 million, wears a time only RG Franck Mueller, definitely more visible than my RG Aquanaut, but not what I call high end.
I can understand if your love for watches faded, mine has in a way that I am very happy with what I have and no need or intention to get anything else, but no way am I selling them for a car or something else

I wear my expensive AP's or PP's in situations specifically where i don't want to get noticed, especially PP though. Everyone notices my Rolex and its my least expensive watch by far. In fact, I'm pretty sure my family back home thinks the Rolex is my most valuable watch. Its not necessarily the price which makes a watch a "show off" piece, sometimes its the brand. Im not saying that the motivation for wearing a Rolex, but sometimes that is the effect simply because almost everyone knows what a Rolex is.

Even the RG AP is less attention getting than a Rolex as no one knows what it is anyway so its probably not even gold in their mind.

I won't be selling mine either, although I could for a Richard Mille or the like.
But I'm not adding more either.

You are right. Rolex is "the one" if you want to get noticed. No one has ever commented on my AP's.

I did hesitate a little on RM, love the black or grey 055, the 035, but more than 100k? No way sorry, if they were at 50-60 sure I might and probably would, but there is no way I can accept the retail that they have, yeah sure R&D and all that, but for me it's a lot of marketing and limited production on these models which make prices so high, like the 5711 just that RM is taking the extra cash not the greys, and IMHO, they are not worth those prices, for a little less than the 035-02, I got a unique piece Voutilainen, which, again IMHO, can understand if others don't agree, deserves much more it's price than the RM, were I much richer sure I would have 1-2, but on my level just couldn't justify it...

That’s a pretty low rate on short term debt. You’re only going to save a few hundred bucks by paying it off early but I’m sure you know that. If you aren’t strapped for cash I would just pay off the car by continuing to make the monthly payments.

If you’re done with the watches that’s cool too. Let us know how you like that Apple gadget if you end up getting one.

Thanks all for your input. I wear a Fitbit Flex and that's enough of a gadget for me-it gives me text and phone notifications. I'll stick with the Rolexes. I started to ponder because when discussing the possibility of buying a RubberB for my 16570 a (non-wis Apple watch wearing) friend couldn't believe that I would spend $300 on a rubber watch band when I could purchase an Apple watch for much more. I know I would miss my Rolexes as I do enjoy wearing them. I guess I'll be making a trip to the jewelry store here in town and acquiring the RubberB before too long. Thanks for the enabling.

Rolex is worth it, hence why they sell a million watches per year at a $5000+ price point

Your friend is entirely correct about Rubber B. They don't warrant a Rolex-esque price premium

I am a true apple fan . Have one of the latest MacBook pros
and an iPhone 7 plus ... Have to admit though when it comes
to a watch the Apple Watch over my Rolex is a non starter !!!
A complete no go !!!!
My iPhone does what the Apple Watch does !!!
It can not replace my Bluesy Sub !!!! End of discussion!!!

Take your Apple Watch under water 300 meters ...

My idea of simplifying in this scenario would be consolidating / upgrading to a better Rolex model lol

Sell the LV and pay off some of the car, keep the 16570. As for the Apple watch, your cell phone does everything better, so why bother.

Your car is a 2013 and you're considering selling a Rolex to pay it off? I don't think simpler is the word you're looking for. Prioritizing is probably the best word.
