So sorry for your loss Chris. Kali had a wonderful life with you and your family.
I hope this doesn’t come out wrong but you certainly sent her off to Doggy Heaven in a grand way. You made all the right decisions.

It’s truly a heartbreaking day Chris and one we all know will eventually come. As you said, it’s part of the contract we sign up for and we do so willingly.
I hope that you and your family take comfort in the fact you gave Kali a wonderful life and that she returned the favor with love many times over. It’s sad that the one day we all dread has come for your family but remember the thousands of days that she brightened all of your lives. Take care my friend.

They do get into our hearts. She sounds like she lived a good life, was greatly loved and gave much love in return. With tears in my eyes I gave my little guy a big hug after reading this thread.

It’s the only day in pet ownership I truly dread. I’m tearing up reading this. I’ve been there and have been through this. Thoughts and prayers with you and your family.

I lost a very dear pet last year, words can not describe what they mean to us, the unconditional love, the joy, the happiness they give. You gave her a happy life Chris, and sent her to heaven the best way possible, your family will be with her again some day. Here I am at the gym, trying to be manly and tears streaming down my face. Godspeed Kali.

Hi Chris,
I’m very sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is just horrible because they’re family. Remember the good times! Wes |

Rough 24 hours indeed. She normally sleeps on the main floor because it's cooler down here. I wake up early around 5 and she's always at the bottom of the stairs to greet me. Every day for 10 years. I give her a good head rub and let her out...she barks to come back in and lays beside me while I peck away at the computer.
This morning was awful. Empty down here and not having her here was like not having part of me. Just brutal. I know time heals - I've lost plenty in my life...but I know how much it stinks for the first while. She's happy and free now - I know that. Just miss her...that's all. |

That is always sad. Those who have never had a dog will not ever understand.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm also a pet lover and know all the joy they bring into our lives. You definitely made her life an enjoyable one by rescuing her.

I know you feel gutted. Lord knows I did when I had the same to do for my Boydog after 12 years. It is hard when they love us so much and we love them back just as much.

Sincerest condolences, Chris! I now how much a pet can mean to a family. We've been through a couple of heart breaks in our time. Take solace that your furry friend is at peace.
