Even though I could see things were not right, as far as THAT sort of thing goes I was too naïve to recognise the signs.

in my house the joke is, the door bell rings, there's a pile of packages sitting outside the door and I carry them into the house mumbling "more stuff". My wife tries to justify all the crap she just bought.

Then I say, just let me know when you want me to throw this stuff away, today? 6 months? a year?

Then 6 months later when it's finally time to throw away crap that she's bought (yes I always try to donate stuff first), I say, so today is the day I can throw away this stuff?

Come to think of it, I don't think my wife thinks it's funny when I make my remarks lol

I am in NO POSITION to criticize anyone's spending habits let alone my wife's.

She is a CPA compared to me.

Actually, it's very rare. That being said, my husband cannot for the life of him understand my affinity for watches. Or Hermes or Chanel bags either. I bought him a Rolex and he wears it only (to please me) on special occasions. He loves his Eco-Drives. And I can see him eye-rolling when I post on TRF.

P.S. I'm not a fan "decorative" pillows.

Well, I actually like the fact that my wife appreciates quality in her shoes and bags (which are her two attractions). She earns her own and can buy whatever she wants as far as I am concerned.

During a recent NYC trip, I saw her agonizing over a new LV purchase and actually had to tell her it was more than fine that she buy it for herself. The bonus for me - a couple new pair of Crockett and Jones shoes just down the street!

I’m the one who wants Hermès throws and pillows. My wife is happy with langes, day dates, and birkins.

Well, if she gets the birkin, then you definitely deserve the Hermes pillow and throw... they are very nice after all!

When my credit card was stolen I didn't report it. The thief was spending less than my wife did.

she has so many purses that you could floor the entire house in purses... I asked her about it, laying down the purses then epoxying the top... she declined.

I’m probably worse than my wife when it comes to spending. We have been blessed to be able to enjoy our lifestyle and have prepared ourselves for our retirement. Now, my wife does have a penchant for home decor stuff that blows my mind. We have more freaking pillows, throws, mirrors, vases, lamps than the Vanderbilt Estate in Asheville North Carolina which I believe remains the biggest private residence in the USA. I love her nonetheless and like Chadri just grin and bear it as I haul off the old and watch her put the new stuff out.

My wife invariably finds the $1000 dress on sale for $100, or the $500 boots for $25, and looks stylish doing it. And she is encouraging me to buy another steel sport Rolex as they "hold their value". She won't wear a watch, and refuses to let me buy her a Rolex.

I am a lucky guy!

My wife literally buys nothing for herself. She never goes shopping, or buys jewelry, or hits the spa....it all has to come from me. Yet......somehow she manages to spend money like she’s at a strip club. I mean it’s just gone with nothing to show for it.....is chuck e cheez really that damn expensive?

My wife isn’t a big spender and we live well below our means, but when she does get the itch, she really knows how to plow through a mountain of Benjamin’s.
I stopped buying her jewelry because it just sits in the vault, so if she needs a $2800 pair of Chanel boots, who cares, go for it. I think she has Jimmy Choo on speed dial as well.
She thinks the watches are silly but she’s got 10x as much, easily.
You can’t take it with you!

My wife’s nick name is “Death by a thousand papercuts”. She complains about my purchasing a $1000 watch but will but 20 $50 shirts and shoes etc.

Killing me slowly.

I try to point out to my wife when she comes home with something reduced from 500 to 300 to 100 to 50, that the reason is, because that no one else in the world wants it.

Saving hard for the price of the house before we married followed by 15 years of raising kids on one salary kind of stamped out any real tendency to be extravagant in both of us.
Mrs Rocky is not really interested in jewelry, bags or fashion, and apart from nice watches I am not really into anything expensive.
I sometimes think it is a bit of a shame that when you can afford it, you are no longer motivated to do it.

Some time ago, my wife appeared from upstairs to declare, "It's official, you have more pairs of shoes than me," I was utterly stunned, after a couple of times of trying to answer, only to find that my mouth wasn't working, I managed to usher her back upstairs. I knew that the sum total of my "more shoe's than hers" amounted to 12 pairs, I knew that she had many places where her shoes were stored and picked one that I knew probably tripled the 12 pairs I owned. With a smug look I opened the door and just indicated with both arms outstretched the legions of shoes peering back at us. This was an easy win.

She seemed undeterred and replied, "Ahh, they don't count, I dont wear them all."

The warden rarely buys things for herself. She didn't work outside the home until our son started school and now works part time. She does spend, but 90% of the time it's on him, not herself. We always geared ourselves to being able to live on one income and below our means. Extra money, inheritances ect all go into long term investments and 529 plans.

I'd love to join this game but my wife is the prudent one. Rarely spends money on herself and then does so conservatively. Meanwhile I think of money in terms of "Rolex Tokens"
