Wow, that looks incredible. A great story behind it as well. Congratulations, I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

It's been quite a long time since a watch made me go wow here on TRF. I'm trying to find the words to describe what I feel and can only think to say this has to be my favorite watch of all time on TRF.
Congrats. |

Stunning results. Kudos to RSC Genčve for schooling RSC NYC. I’ve had great experiences with the service guys in Geneva. Hope you’re not rethinking your plans for it as a daily workhorse.

Congratulations! The journey is the reward and I‘m glad, the watched turned out as you had hoped. That being said, I would have preferred to keep the watch in it‘s original condition, but that‘s subjective. Enjoy your beautiful time piece.

I feel your frustration with RCS.. most there are clueless about vintage.. even had an argument with a parts manager there as he was stating Rolex never made coined bezels from brass back in the 50’s... I even had a log discussion with a supervisor about the red sub service dials and after she got confirmation from Geneva, she then admitted they existed but they only exchange red for red.. I even made a post about it here few years ago..
So glad you got what you were looking for and the results are beautiful. Will last you a life time. Enjoy with health |

I am delighted that you ignored the advice to return the watch. I have a 1680 that has a service dial and replacement mid-case etc which I wear every day - it is a great watch and my all time favourite after owning over 20 Rolex sports models over the years. IMO these watches shouldn't be treated as museum pieces. I hope that you use this as you originally intended as an everyday watch......it deserves to be worn.

I’m sure it looked pretty good when it left the factory back in ‘70. It isn’t a mint all original watch and can be overhauled again by your grandkid someday down the road.

My dial is pretty well preserved. I think the bracelet failed many many years ago and it spent quite a bit of time in a drawer.

What did RSC say in terms of water resistance? Does it have a service back?

What a fantastic piece and congratulations.
However the f I am being really critical, I still wouldn’t say anything bad about it. It really does have the wow factor for me. Love it !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Vintage watches with patina look great - until you see something like this.
Seeing your watch as it was intended to be, almost brand new looking like the day it was first sold...just wow. Your patience definitely paid off!
