I cannot make up my mind which model will be my first Rolex.

I utilize GMT in my work, so that model would be useful...but I have a EcoDrive beater for that function. So that leaves out the GMTs and Explorers.

I don't care for Subs, so the the next choice for a 'sportier' watch would be a YM. The blue dial model is very nice...but the blingy Pt bezel is not my favorite.

I want the date function so I have looked into the 36mm DJs. I found a NOS blue fluted with sticks and Oyster bracelet for ~$6500 at an AD on a business trip over the holidays...which I passed on. Probably a stupid move on my part......

Wasn't really a DJ guy until I saw this watch (116234), anyone wear one as a daily?

the datejust with fluted bezel has really grown on me lately. it wasn't until i was in hong kong recently and saw so many on the wrist that i realised that they were really quite something to behold.

a nice silver dial dj with fluted bezel is definitely something i'll be on the lookout for

I bought the DJ 41 steel with WG when my daughter turned 1 2 years ago because of that Hodinkee article as well. at first, i like it but after several times the new DJ definitely nothing like the 116234. The 41 size makes it too bulky and the bezel even shinier. I definitely want to trade it with 116234, but last year I dropped it and now there's a small chip on the bezel :( not sure if its something that can be fixed with just simple polishing.

I don't like Sub (sorry) and I always prefer DJ !
but only in 36 mm with SS crenelated bezel (more detailed, and less brilliant than the fluted bezel in white gold that makes jewelry)
Jubilee strap of course.
16030 below ... and I hope someday I will find a 1603 grey dial

Is this bezel still an option from Rolex?

I quite like that.

I have a 116234 Black Stick dial en route. I have purchased it on the jubilee bracelet however I’m really liking the look of the oyster now, makes you see the watch in a totally different light

I was deciding between an Explorer 1 and DJ41. Decided on the latter and chose the white dial, fluted, and jubilee. I could not be happier. I wear it every day and seems to suit my professional attire as a lawyer and my casual wear on the weekends.

I don't really have a daily, but I wear my DJ under most all circumstances and conditions.

I fell in love with the older Rhodium dialed DJs, but what really did it for me were the Turn-O-Graphs!!!

Heck, it's my daily Rolex because it is my only Rolex. So far.

Our ADs over have only OP, DD, Cellini and DJ available.

Cheers

I'm wearing 'your' watch right now. The engine turned bezel kicks it. Bought new in 1978 and it's still my only daily. Next year is my 65th and I'm thinking of a new Rolex but I'd probably just get another DJ. (36, steel, blue dial, roulette date, smooth bezel, Jubilee. Not that I've given it much thought.) Unless I can get *that* GMT...
