Even the most up tight work environments are trying to appeal to the new workforce.
That means a normal suit and tie attire is now missing the tie. |

Nice Rick, what was your crew position? During my 27+ years of Air Force life I wore a flight suit for over 19 years. As a loadmaster I rode the back end of a C-141 Starlifter. The rest of my career was mostly classroom type setting so short sleeve blue shirt with a tie. My now civil service job is working operations, mission scheduling C-17s. It’s a khaki and polo shirt gig or Aloha shirt if preferred. Have not been able to convince them that shorts, t-shirts and flip flops are more practical. 😎 Aloha, Tim
QUOTE=Redtele58;8300475]For 23 years in the Air Force I wore a flight suit just about every day. Now as a civilian contractor on an Air Force bombing range, I'm in jeans, a t-shirt and steel-toed boots. And of course one of my trusty Rolex watches! Winning! [/QUOTE] |

Jeans and a tucked in branded polo or a linen shirt untucked. It’s weather dependant though - it’s hot as balls most of the time.
If it was cooler I’d opt for trousers, dress shoes, short sleeve shirt, tie and a jumper just because I like that look but it’s way way too hot for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Business casual for me. A button down shirt, chinos, and nice leather shoes. When it's cold I'll throw on a sweater and/or a sport coat.
Sometimes on Friday I'll try to get away with a pair of chinos. |

Business casual Monday-Thursday: chinos and tucked in shirt. Long sleeve button down fall/winter; short sleeve polo spring/summer.
Casual Friday: jeans and untucked long sleeve button down or short sleeve polo depending on season. Work from home once a week, usual Thursdays: joggers and long sleeve tee fall/winter; shorts and short sleeve tee spring/summer.

When I was with Chippendales, it was always the same.
Black slacks, sleeveless white tuxedo shirt, white cuffs, and a bow tie.

Jeans, tees / golf shirts in the summer / jeans, sweaters in the winter / jeans, dress shirts and heavier polos or light sweaters in the spring and fall.
Jeans is the common theme here ... I own 18 pair. YES I have issues |

Suit and tie because I never know when I am going to end up in front of a client. We do have some walk ins and I often get called to help the other advisors in our office. I would say that most of our clients somewhat expect their Financial Advisor to wear a suit??
But we are getting a lot of new guys that goes without a tie. And about every 6 months or so it seems we have to put the hammer down on people coming into the office underdressed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

...and I thought it was just laid-back Aussies who were going casual.
Everywhere I go I see more relaxed dress standards. Ties only 25% of where they used to be. Polos rife in non-customer-facing jobs. Makes sense in hot climates like mine where a coat and tie is torture out of the air-con.

I typically wear a suit with no tie now. I worked in advertising for many years, up until a few years ago, and that was jeans and a polo shirt. I miss those casual days!

Dress Code
I’m in personal finance which is typically a very conservative field. A few years ago I got tired of looking at every singe website of financial firms all dressed in their black/blue suits with their white shirts, red tie, and cuff links. You literally couldn’t tell one firm from the other.
I also began to notice that the more comfortable my clients became the more dressed down they would get. Some of my best clients show up in gym shorts. Given, it helps that I own the firm... but we made the decision to ditch the entire suit and tie attire. When I meet with clients I wear dress slacks with a nice button down. Nice shoes are still a must. But no jackets, no ties. The only time I throw on the entire suit is if I’m meeting at a company offsite and their dress attire is conservative. We also changed our pictures on our website to reflect our more casual culture. We actually got a TON of great feedback. Not only did people notice, they liked it. It’s a more accurate reflection of who we are as people and what our firm represents. Which is relationships and advice in a fun and causal atmosphere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm a client facing CPA/CFP and almost always wear jeans.
Today I played golf, so ignore today. Yesterday I wore jeans. Nice Jeans - 7 for all mankind. I also wore a pair of Magnanni monk straps and a matching Magnanni belt, a hickey freeman dress shirt and hickey freeman blazer. But jeans, everyday. |

Khakis and button down to work daily. If there is a corporate meeting suit with no tie or sport jacket with no tie. I hope to someday never own a pair of long pants and live my life in shorts and a polo shirt!

T-shirt and jeans for me. Although I work in IT doing app development, so if I wore anything else I would stand out.

I wear a navy blue shirt and navy blue uniform pants with patches on the shoulders with a piece of metal pinned to my chest. The Rolex stays in my locker and the G-shock goes on

I work in finance. I don't ever see clients, but I wear slacks and a dress shirt every day. Our main concession is that we don't have to wear a tie unless there's a specific reason.
