Very nice looking .. Congrats!!

This reminds me of a conversation I had with someone a couple of years ago about "conversions". There was a time, back in the 80's and early 90's (I'm guessing .. I was a mere child back then) when some people bought all steel Rolex watches (Dj's mostly but also some subs and GMT's) and then had the dials, bezels, winding crowns, hands, and bracelets replaced with FACTORY gold parts from a particular grey dealer which converted the watches in the the more expensive TT version. The grey dealer who did the conversions always suggested keeping the SS parts to have them replaced if and when the watch owner decided to sell the watch later on. There are some people who used aftermarket NON factory parts which rendered their watches total pieces of junk. Every now and then one will come into his store, but it is rare.
Seeing your Daytona reminded me of that conversation. The watch is perfect, and I hope you enjoy it for many years in great health.

If I have this right, the watch on the left started life as a TT. The watch in the middle with the WG dial is actually a SS Daytona.

I am assuming that the 116500-looking watch on the right is actually a 116520 with a ceramic bezel.

There is a difference between the lugs between several Daytona models (steel vs gold vs platinum).

Is this also the case for the steel ones and the TT?

Yes that is true. The lugs are different among the steel/gold and platinum daytonas.

But when it comes to steel and two tone, they are identical.

No there isn't. The discrepancy exist as a security feature, to prevent the swapping away of pm (WG , platinum) bracelets with a ss one.

I bought an excellent condition Rolex 16523 with box and paper, spent decent chunk of change and bought brand new Rolex 16520 conversion parts. Here is the end result.
All parts were bought brand spanking new***

Decided to throw in something extra Now the beautiful 4030 movement can be seen in its full glory.

Thought Id share the results with you all.
I have 90 brand spanking new USD waiting for you. Please send me your PP addy
