Not having seen the blue dial in person yet, I'll say this: With the SS Pepsi and new WG Pepsi (blue dial) released and continuing production for the near (or long) term future; this will make a black dialed, WG pepsi "rare" and unique. There is no way to get a black dial, pepsi bezel, oyster bracelet GMT Master II otherwise (well, for now at least).

That, plus I think the black is a perfect base color to contrast the red and blue of the bezel;

When you add the blue dial, at least in photos, it baselines the watch with a "true blue"; making it easier to see how "purple" the bezel's blue actually is! Two shades of blue.. not my thing.

Black all the way for me.

EDIT: just saw the two instagram links posted by AK797. The second IG link shows exactly what I mean; the blue of the dial shows how purple the bezel blue is. BUT.. that first IG pic.. i'll be damned, that blue looks good in that light/angle...

Is this the first time Rolex have suggested doing a free dial swap? If so it could be that they have an oyster bracelet lined up for the ss pepsi and are thinking this is the only way you will be able to tell the difference between pm and steel, on the flesh so to speak. Now that would be a real kick in the balls to original blro owners. This is going to get messy.

I would keep the black and buy this if you want a blue Pepsi

black is top notch! Don’t make a swap! Even in short term future that would be a mistake!

I like the new blue but if I owned the BLRO with the black dial I would hold right now and see how the blue dial looks in person.

I’m not an owner (sigh) but if I was I’d be right there with you. I think the black dial is more special now that it’s been replaced by the blue

Any other owners thinking about swapping out for the new blue dial?!

Heard Rolex would do it for free but has anyone gotten the exact process to do the swap?
Rolex will not do it

^Yeah, knew that sounded suspect. They messed with blro owners in the first place, why extend a helping hand then

I don't really have a monkey in this circus but I would be very very surprised if Rolex would actually do the swap just to be nice. I will be curious to see the reality of this proposal as time goes by.

I'm generally more of a fan of black dials vs. colored ones. The first pics I saw of the blue dial looked much lighter and washed out. But this blue dial, especially in this picture, is intriguing. It's growing on me.

Moot point for me though as my GMT is a 16710. I'd consider it if I could keep my black dial after the swap, but we all know Rolex's policy on this.

One of the reviewers described it as a blue version of the black dial on the rg ym oysterflex...kinda matt finish.. but not like the flat blue on smurf or sunburst blue on bluesy.

I love my black dial but was thinking...for a change...not looking to sell it in the future.

The information regarding the dial switch on the BLRO models seems to be just rumor at this point. I have contacted 3 AD's I deal with and none of them have heard of this as an option from Rolex. In another thread on this topic, a member had contacted a Rolex service center, I believe it was the Hong Kong one, and they also said they had no information of this option.

I heard it on one of the videos posted by one of the reviewers who was at basel.

But that’s the only place I heard it.

Let me look on YouTube so I can see who it was.

If I owned one I would not. I like the blue better HOWEVER I am not a fan of ever changing an original spec.

Having said that I am sorry many of the BLRO owners are unhappy with the new news. I am hoping this works to my advantage as I will be watching the used prices and hopefully they drop with the decreased demand as I think the BLRO is awesome and the new SS is not. Looking forward to this being my first PM.

I think the majority of the WG owners don't care about the new release in SS nor changing dial.
WG looks and wears different and after all you wear a watch for yourself. Gold > Stainless

No need to feel sorry as I have owned it for 2 yrs and gotten immense pleasure wearing it with the heft from pm.

Not looking to sell so not really concerned if second hand market prices drop!

Hope it does so you can get a bargain.

You will love the wg!

I’d keep mine as is or just trade for a blue dial version.

Just saw the new Rolex master catalogue at my go-to AD which has a picture of the new BLRO dial. The color is dark blue and almost black.

As an owner of current BLRO, I am very intrigued...

I’m thinking of getting a blro. I really like the blue dial. Would have to see it in person first. Might go with the black dial because I have a smurf and might not want a second blue dial.

Love the blue dial, sets it apart from the SS version similar to Smurf. Shocked to hear that Rolex is willing to swap the dials??? Are you sure of this?

Rolex is not swapping dials for owners of the -001 BLRO. Maybe with the right connection you could have it done but multiple current owners have been given the thumbs down from Rolex.

Where does this rumor stem from? Do we have any proof it comes from a valid source? The rumor mill is quite creative these days on TRF. I asked an associate at the Rolex boutique on 5th Ave about this "free" dial swap a couple weeks ago and he laughed and said he's heard no such thing from Rolex.
