Shouldn’t the name of this thread be:

‘Let’s all waste our time.’

Why don’t you divide 200 by 800,000 (just their estimated production numbers in one year) and ask yourself if they would care about that? You’re not even talking about ONE TENTH of 1% encountering complaints. And that’s just for ONE year. but sure, carry on.

If you are writing a letter then it means you must really, really want a watch.

Earlier this year I almost foolishly walked out of an AD with two Tudor pieces that I didn’t really have an interest in, all for the privilege on getting on “the list”. On reflection my sentiments regarding the current practice would not be anything I’d be comfortable putting to paper!

The one of the reasons the SS watches are so sought after is because you can't get them.

The only letter they want from us is - How to stop the Flippers and get watches to true buyers like the more established members of this forum.

Are you suggesting "true buyers" (whatever THEY are) don't ever buy from "flippers" directly, or indirectly?

he is saying get AD watches to true buyers and stop flippers from getting watches first. People who have zero intention of keeping a watch are not true buyers, correct.

How would you suggest it's 'policed'?
It has been mooted here on more than one
occasion that it's 'rogue' AD's that supply the grey market.
Let's face it, it's not...rocket surgery,....or magic.

How long does one have to keep one's Rolex to
be considered a "true buyer", and by whom exactly?
---------------------------------------------------------------

If I buy a used Mercedes am I considered to be not a true buyer?
If I buy a new Mercedes and sell before some arbitrary period has
passed, am I considered flipper? Would I, or anyone else care?
I think not. I get my my money, and someone gets a car.
Simple. It's the market.
As a wiser man than me once said, "Put up, or shut up".

Go ahead, write your letter, in your heart you'll know, it's a wasted stamp.

in the UK you get blacklisted if you get caught. No more watches for you. Its the common thing to do retroactively. Rolex is policing the secondary inventory and seeing where the watches are coming from. Do they catch a high percentage? no. But its a deterrent for sure.

customs doesn't catch everyone breaking customs rules either but enough get caught that it forces compliance for most people.

It's been happening for over a year in the UK, as has been said a THOUSAND TIMES. If you seriously think Rolex do not care what happens to their watches after they are sold and the grey market, then stop posting and start reading threads, you are still living in 2016 and you are getting very tiresome.

I think it would be more effective if people would just continue to bitch about it on TRF. That's the real difference maker.

they have diverted all dedicated forum readers to production since some AD said they are now working 24/7 to increase production. They have left TRF unmonitored and will have no idea what we want them to make next.

From computer geek to watchmaker, overnight. Sounds like an excellent bullet point on a few CVs.

If all of the forum readers are now in production, I wonder who will read all of the letters from the barrage of "let's write a letter" submissions? I'm guessing it'll fall on the custodian.

Considering that Rolex is probably the least consumer friendly watch company on the planet, I doubt a letter would accomplish anything.

your sense of scale is way off. They write 10X more letters than that to their AD's to say keep the warranty card, remove the stickers, etc. So you need to at least double or triple the volume going in than what they are putting out.

Tactically speaking.

doesn't matter the outcome or what they do, in the end, it's a Rolex and all of you will continue to buy one and own it :)

Let's admit it..they can do no wrong. Even with all the recent changes, we will continue to own a Rolex watch.

Let’s all write a letter.

We’d all just be better served starting our own AD in a desirable location that moves lots of inventory...then there would be plenty of watches to go around....🤣 LOL

I hope they'd blacklist everyone sending in a letter and stop them buying a Rolex at any point in the future.

This happens with AP dealers. This happens with Patek dealers. This happens with other high end products (from handbags to super cars).

People need to get over themselves a little and stop moaning just because they can't have what they want, when they want it. It's becoming rather tiresome. And yes, I could just stop reading threads like this, but I can't help myself!!

And all this talk of Rolex throttling supply of sports models to increase demand. This may be true, but we don't know this. It might be that there is more money to be made from selling PM DJ's in some markets than there is from selling sports models, so perhaps they are just prioritising production capacity to maximise profits, which would be more than reasonable!

It should be a letter thanking Rolex for cleaning up the market for its watches.

As soon as early last year, Rolex was far too available and having new watches with stickers on the street for thousands below retail was ridiculous.

All of that is terrible for the brand. Recognizing that they don't want to become Breitling, Rolex instituted firm but fair distribution of the SS Sport line.

In reaction to this limitation, different dealers are handling this in ways they see fit to accommodate their customer base.

Some dealers have plenty of stable existing business and don't need or care for new business that only wants the "hawt" stuff.

Other dealers are open to new customers and will get them the product in a reasonable period of time....or require them to buy a certain amount to be eligible to buy limited pieces.

Thanks Rolex!
