SD43 is the best modern diver. The more I wear mine the more it feels like it just "belongs" on my wrist. It's the perfect combination of great looks, durability, and versatility. It's also pretty telling that, in an AP forum, the Rolex is getting as many votes as it is.

But I would almost never recommend buying a watch sight unseen. Try to get both of them on your wrist, and buy the one that speaks to you!

I've had diver and now own SD43. I vote SD43 for daily wear, especially for smaller wrists. Diver has more presence overall, but the caseback on it is chunkier which makes the fit more beefy than a normal 42mm ROO. too much bulk for me

What did the OP end up buying??

I’d say if you decide on Rolex spend the same $$ on a minty great white 1665...

Diver is great though, I just got one and I love it.

Wearing a new SD43 as I type this.....BUT...still thinking about the diver.

The SD43 is just an easy watch to wear. The ceramic bezel, the workhorse movement, the adjustability of the bracelet, etc.....

BUT.....it does have the same look of the submariner (although very different wrist feel) it is NOT an AP and does not have the same finishing. I love my 44 titanium cannot wear it to work on a daily basis.

I keep having the feeling, that I should flip the SD43 for the diver because.....I can ALLWAYS get it back if I truly miss it.

IMHO no contest!

Diver all the way. The SD43 isn't even close.

I have had both and currently have both 44ti and the SD43 in my collection, would I flip for a Diver? Absolutely not!!! I think the SD43 is a perfect beater and the only Rolex I like.

I was close to buying the AP diver - either the orange or blue funky color one. But I found it too top heavy and would have much preferred it on a bracelet. I also didn't like the way the internal bezel worked. In the end, I waited it out and bought an SD43. Even at that, I wish it were a tad thinner and lighter.

I vote AP diver, I think it is a much finer watch.
