Both are amazing pieces and can be worn with just about anything. The DD however with the President bracelet is king.

The date complication is nice to have, and I’m not a fan of gold professional models. Go DD.

50-50 for me! I really enjoy both of these and wear them often! Bought the Day-Date first but soon followed with the Sub. I wear them from the office to the pool at the condo.

Of those two I’d go with the gold sub!

DayDate

Gold just doesn't make nearly as much sense on a sports watch as it does on a dress watch

The gold sub would be my choice. For me it's a very easy choice.

I've ditched all my yellow gold, except the sub. For all the reasons you've cited, it's the one for me.

YG is for DD. Sub should be SS.

I'm not a fan of Subs. Thus I would go with the DD.

I'm kind of leaning that way too.

I was going to say DD anyway, but this post confirmed it, as for me a YG DD and a SS Sub are the two most iconic Rolex's ever, so I just can't see logic in having a SS Sub and a PM Sub.....
But hey, we're all different.

However, I wouldn't ever have a YG DD with the champagne dial though, it would have to be a white dial (or maybe a black dial)

For me there is no greater all rounder than the yellow gold DD40 with champagne dial. I have one and I wear it all the time, more than any other watch, it is just perfection.

However the truth is that they are both absolutely amazing and totally iconic, you will love either and no wrong choices just go for the one that suits your style most.
