The nagging feeling of wearing non-Rolex watches... it's not a Rolex

Interesting. Having been only Rolex for the last 16+ years, I always thought I would not like other brands and they wouldn’t get any wrist time if I were to buy one. This actually stopped me from buying Tudor BBR ETA that I have been admiring for a long time. Finally pulled the trigger on the Tudor and when I wear it I don’t feel at all like I miss my Rolex.

But I do sometimes feel like I need one of those ‘ my other car is a Mercedes ‘ type of stickers when I am not wearing a Rolex.

For me I feel this not because I think Rolex is the best but because of the Rolex brand buying and ownership experience.

I have wanted a Sub for most of my adult life, and I mean REALLY wanted one but with houses, cars, business, kids...I have never been able to justify one so held back. I did however buy other watches like Tags and Omega but as I wore them I only ever wanted a Sub.
Its strange for me because I hate gold on a watch, or any colour apart from SS so there are not many actual Rolexes I like. The only other Rolex I would have is a SS Daytona. There are no other models I would want. I wouldn't have a Hulk or a Shark either, only the Black.
I can appreciate them but would never have them. Sorry a bit off topic.

I can't say my Rolex makes me friskier than any other watch.

Used to have this feeling long long time ago when I just started watching collecting and got my first Rolex after an Omega. Now it's just another brand, most of the time, really nothing special. I still like to wear them though as they are tough, reliable and makes good work-day watches.

It's the weight on my wrist that is missed when I'm not wearing a Rolex. This doesn't happen with the Tudor, which is also a heavy piece. Hamilton, Omega, and Seiko, though enjoyed, are light-weights, by comparison.

Definitely enjoy wearing my Rolex, right now wearing my Apple Watch (at work and exercise only watch) and also enjoy wearing other brand watches.

Hmm.. not so much the brand.. but to me it's the actual model, any other watch is 'not a Submariner'.. similarly, I feel that any other car is 'not a 911'. Though I have and respect other cars too...

Good point here, more importantly it’s the actual watch not the brand. I can think of many Rolexes I wouldn’t wear including some of the most popular ones

Can't imagine not owning, and regularly wearing, a Rolex. They are so tough and dependable.
However, some other makes are wonderful, and I would miss them too. So I'm probably not a 'one make' guy.

I share a similar feeling although I happily wear a Luminox at night for the forever lume, a Swiss Army plastic whilst in my shop, and a Calatrava when on special occasions.

I’ve looked at Tudor, Omega, Grand Seiko, Panerai and others. I admire them, but when I look at the cost, I feel I’d rather pay a little more and get a Rolex.

The one exception might be the Omega Speedmaster.

This is kind of how I feel about being a Rolex owner and wearing Tudor. Considering Tudor is not a well known mainstream brand, but very closely resembles Rolex, I think it may give the impression I'm wearing a Fauxlex when viewed up close. But then again, I've been out wearing my 116660 and been asked by "a watch guy" if I'm wearing an Invicta . I would wear other brands that do not closely resemble Rolex depending on the circumstance, but ideally, Rolex is my first choice.

I enjoy owning each Rolex in my collection because each one has a special reason for being in my collection, but I feel the same way for the 2 PP's I own.

As much as I enjoy wearing those watches, I am just as comfortable and enjoy wearing my Movado. I don't feel as if I "must" wear a Rolex or risk feeling incomplete.
