Having a friend at the RSC helps a lot.... Just like me he thinks that there are so much more dial/strap/metal combinations that could work. He loves these experiments as much as I do and as long as it fits is our only real limitation !
(Ok ok, maybe some financial limitations as well , he also had the baguette one for me available but roughly 4500K€ for just the dial was a little bit too much) This was our previous creation, "The Daytona Beach MK2" But back to the latest one. Actually we discussed many different brown straps, Rolex makes a LOT of brown versions for the 116519/116518 range. Yes the darker ones matched the brown tachy rings better , but we both thought this tint of brown complimented the iceblue better. I absolutely respect the fact that most users on this forum don't want anything on the wrist that's not an original Rolex design. I just like to wear the watch the way i like it best (using only real parts obviously !!) With the design of the PT Daytona Rolex perhaps tried hundreds of variants, we will never know. We do know the final version they came up with probably was the one what they think looks best. I personally never have liked the brown bezel, have seen it in person many times. Before the PT Daytona was released Rolex most gorgeous dial colours (glacier) always was seen with metal coloured bezels, for a reason perhaps. On many different references. Will do some experimenting with darker straps in the future for sure ! Other people suggested black Oysterflex for this combo but then I have to admit Oysterflex looks indeed better with ceramic bezels. |

Looks good to me. Great experiment (along with the previous Daytona Beach iteration!).

frankinwatch in my opinion. Does it look good yes but to put a dial thats only exclusive for platinum on a white gold watch doesn't do it for me. If i saw this in the wild i would 100% think its a fake watch. Also i would think the owner did a bad job trying to fool everyone by choosing a watch that doesn't exist.

Yes as you may know yourself in Europe you still can find a few RSC’s that do not always follow the sometimes hysterical customer unfriendly policies including “stealing” the parts you paid for, but let’s not get started about that ;)
And I admit, if i did not know the guy this wouldn’t have been possible! |

And I totally agree on 'stealing parts' but unfortunately that is the way it is. An RSC can get into big trouble if Rolex finds out, anyone asking me to do something like this, not gonna happen. |

This photo says to me that this dial has to be experimented on a full metal watch, I.e. with the white gold bracelet as well as white gold bezel. You guys have to try that! I think it could definitely be a ceramic bezel bearer. good on you for trying the creation by the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Didn't think I'd be a fan based on description alone, but it looks fantastic!

Blue dial on white strap looks much better. The platinum dial looks a bit sterile without the brown bezel.

False advertising / franken watch IMO
That dial is especially reserved for Platinum models. Not WG. |

But if you like it, enjoy!

Unless obviously your just social life is limited to TRF meetings or familyname would be Tourneau Rolex is rather smart only fitting their most mesmerizing dials to their most expensive watches. 90% of the beauty of a watch is in the dial, and interestingly enough the price of a 116506 glacier dial and price of a 116500LN dial are roughly the same!!, around 600$. It feels nice being smarter then Rolex |

Agree with you! The fact that Rolex reserves certain dials for their PT models does not means they cannot / should not be used on other models as well. My WG DD is another example of it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
