OP yes I have. I know that exact feeling. I once had my sights set on a DJ41, blue dial, smooth bezel and jubilee bracelet. So sublime in pictures. Until I tried it on. That's why you try them on. It just wasn't me either. Too blingy looking, too shiny. I knew then that I would always wear a Rolex sport.
I was replacing a 16710 and when I finally got my 116710 LN if felt and looked absolutely perfect. Just like my previous 16710 and just like I imagined.

Happened with OP Grape.
You know.. whenever I see the pics again I get tempted to buy it but when I go to store, I lose the interest right away!! Its a vicious circle!! |

I went into my AD with intention to buy a 16600. I saw a serti end of story. Never desired nothing else. Plus can't afford another!

Great thread, OP.
I advise to NEVER buy a watch you have not tried on. They can be so different on the wrist to how you imagine they will look and feel from the photos on here. A couple of watches ‘I went out to buy’ and found they were not quite right for me: Explorer 16570 polar Tudor North Flag |

Happened to me with the Hulk. And still to this day, I drool and lust after it each time I see it. But I have smaller sized wrists. When I tried it on, the few extra mm on the caseback just made it sit awkward on my flat wrists. Sucked. But I couldn't justify spending the money on something that was just off. Ended up with the GMT.

For me it’s the steel/RG datejust on jubilee. I have gone to my AD at least twice with full intent to buy one but backed out each time.

Grey 39mm OP for me.... in pictures, a beautiful do-anything watch, but at the AD, it felt cold and lifeless on my wrist.

Same thing with me with this same exact YM watch. Ended up walking out with a DJ41 blue, flute and jubilee.

Happened this week, I was set on the OP 39MM, I had read every review, watched every Youtube video, pictured it on my wrist, etc. etc. I got to SELECT and Had DAVIDSW bring out a couple other watches for comparison and walked out with an AK.
Oddly enough I wanted the AK when it came out two years ago, I, however, let the purists talk me out of it. Once I saw it on my wrist though, I knew I had made the right choice. |

I had the exact opposite experience. I was curious to see the platinum Daytona while waiting for a white SS one to come in. I had zero intention of buying or even considering it. Saw it, couldn't get it out of my mind and a month later, I owed it. Does that count?

DSSD, BLNR, and the previous Daytona 116520.
Really liked all in pictures, but lost all interest when I saw them in person. |

Lusted after a Daytona C since launch day. Loved the pictures and hung on every comment in the owners thread. Sat waiting on the eternal AD list and then tried on my business partners...
...dullsville. SS Skydweller - really wasn't sure but once on the wrist it sang. If they had a mouth and a tongue they would talk out loud... |

budgets......
Hey Enoch, I always buy pre-owned as there's good deals to be had, and I'm on a tight budget, Hayward Milton is in your neck of the country so well worth making contact with him, all the best "H"

I’ve met Haywood and bought from him. He’s a proper Rolex aficionado, and a great guy to deal with.

A while back I really wanted a James Cameron, tried it on when I was in Japan, never bought it, now my heart is set on the sea dweller 50th. Don't rush and buy before trying it on and rethink, you don't want to regret after spending 10K+ US :)
