Move to the USA, we are always accepting those who are rejecting globalism and neutering of individual rights.

Solar panels are heavily subsidized over here.

Same here. I just priced up an entire house solar system and it would cost me 28k out of pocket and I would not owe a dime to my electrical company.
Also with the s-req system I can sell to the electrical companies and my panels are paid for in about 4-5 years.

i was hoping that when you know who was elected, that a wave of his positivity and common sense would transmit over the pond,

But its like they are doing the opposite over here to spite him.

And they still don't make economic sense. Solar panels in a country infamous for such cloudy weather is just daft.

I get the idea that you don't care about the gas boiler thing at all and just want to discuss/complain about politics... IBTL.

My parents did this and they love it. They have been beholden to PG&E in California and got sick of rising energy bills. Now they average $8 per month since install. Will be paid off in 5-10 years as compared to continuing to draw off the grid. Who in their right mind wouldn't want as much energy independence as possible? Development of renewables is in its infancy, will only get less expensive with time.

It is hardly independence if it is dependent on subsidies to be cheaper. Renewables will come eventually through technological progression but subsidizing them and banning alternatives will only slow the progression to efficiency.

Feed in tariff ends this month for domestic solar!!! Installation must be competed by the end of this month and application made to register by end of Feb next year 2020.

So unless you already have installation in place or current. It aint happening, big report published today in this regards.

70 years to reclaim installation cost now, which is twice the life span of the system. Makes interesting reading.

HMG have not decided on what will replace it, bit like the bio mass fiasco. You can make around 37K GBP a year from heating empty barns, thats after paying for the biomass.

Thats green isn't is, burn more and pollute more and earn more.

They have placed domestic solar installation as the next PPI tort suit in the UK.

Food for thought.

Biggest Allies you have in this world and vice versa. Only 2 nations that back each other up.

Its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the fight within the dog.

Believe me i know that from first hand experience.

One of the proudest moments of my life was my family and myself being invited to the White House under Pres Obama. As Brits it doesn't happen too often.

The overall pollution impact from solar panels is significant, from majority of production in China (with their terribly inefficient and polluting coal power generation) to transport costs to end of life disposal.

There is no free lunch, and substituting gas with electricity, the vast majority of which is generated using fossil fuels (except France, which is 75% nuclear - a wholy different issue), isn’t an “automatic win”. I’m afraid it’s more nuanced....

And then there’s the issue of becoming “energy dependent” on state-subsidized Chinese solar panels and technology. Not sure that’s a long-term answer either.

Oh, and the government subsidies to go solar, even if they are being reduced, might have been more effectively spent on greater efficiency of current methods.

Just my two cents....

^^^^ Very good points indeed. UK needs to go Nuclear if they wish the lights to stay on. However we have ravaged our own power industries, so i think we looked to France to build our power solution.

Disgraceful, nothing against the French, just the way we have been short sighted within the UK.

But thats just it searchart, the banning of gas boilers in 2025 is totally political, except it politics using emotional blackmail backed up with pseudo science

of course i care when my freedoms are removed under the guise of it being good for the environment.

I understand your frustration but this forum is not for discussing political subjects and if you read the rules you would know that.

I always feel bad for people who are always sure they're right and everyone else just doesn't get it.

Can't be easy.

And yet not everyone is able to afford it and make the upgrades.

Easy to say ''just throw +30-40k euro at it'' (even with government help) but how many people even have that kind of money saved up (hint: not a lot). They can barely pay the rent of afford the mortgage (that's another story and their financial mismanagement).

It all sounds great on paper but it will take a long time to get it implemented. Since it's just a start and all new, it makes sense but it isn't as easy as it sounds.

I'm not a fan of electricity. I'm positive the prices will skyrocket if we have to use electricity for almost everything + electric cars.

But did you do it? I am talking from experience of actually owning them. Not relying off of the info from a sales person.

Good deal. Now please let me know when you pay yours off. Because I haven't yet and it has been almost 10 years.
