I really think this is unique but a very niche watch. The LV is a cool watch but I believe many acquire it just to 'have one'. Of the green watches the LV is the best.
For example totally hate the new khaki green 5168G aquanaut

The LV Sub is getting increasingly less unique. All sorts of brands are jumping on the green bandwagon.

I didn't like the green on green LV when it sat unsold in cases all over the country, and I don't like it now. It's way too niche for my use, and I'm not sure I'd want one if I had to pick my top 20 modern references. I much prefer the five digit version (which I own).

I consider the raise in interest, the subsequent higher prices and the (temporary) less availability of the 116610LV / Hulk as a "passing event".....which is actually caused by the success of the Kermit/16610LV
A couple of years after its introduction in 2003 the Kermit / 16610LV showed a constant price increase over the years up till now and this still has not ended.
Untill 2-3 years ago the Hulk / 116610LV was widely immediately available with attractive discounts.
It seems to me that Rolex buyers interested in green models have noticed the considerable price increase of the Kermit (which was discontinued in 2010) from NOS $ 4.500 in 2003 to $ 22.000,- point four /, 26.000,- Fat Four and probably that they hope to see a repeat of the Kermit's tremendous price increase.
Imo this is a false hope as the history and reason of the 16610LV introduction (50 years anniversary of the Submariner) is unique and non repeatable with it's typical Submariner (o.a black matte dial) elements combined / stipulated with it's unique Rolex-green bezel.
The Hulk on the other hand was a simple / expected (standard) successor of the Kermit; not sharing it's unique heritage.
I believe that the price increase of the Hulk which took mainly place in an accelerating manner only during the last couple of years (in which on the other side the strong price increases of the Kermit were widely noticed by potential green buyers) therefore soon will fade as it is only more or less a simple, for some people attractive full green model.

They say production ration of Hulk is 1:50 in favor of SubBlack dial. There is rumor it might get discontinued any moment; then it might get the attention ... but true is the green is not for everyone nor is blue or brown .... on the other side buying a watch as pure investment one would put in a safe and not on wrist seems odd to me although there are many of such collectors ...

Slow down and take time to enjoy the watches you have. Your narrative implies you’re quite impulsive and it sounds like you’ll end up losing money by continually flipping until you’re satisfied.

I will confess to being impulsive! Thankfully I've yet to flip something I regret (I've never flipped a Rolex btw).

Potential here for this to be my first Rolex flip/regret, so I am definitely wary of that.

No way would it make sense to flip the SDK400 to buy the hulk IMO. But to maybe flip the black sub and get the hulk at retail (some how, some way). Can't see how I'd wind up losing $ if I can pull that off. Or how I wouldn't be able to undo it pretty easily if it turned out to be wrong for me.

Now do I want to is another story. This thread is kind of convincing me to not do it since I'm not naturally drawn to the hulk. Just enjoy what I've got for now...the hardest thing to do lol.

Ln is better imo. Lv is too green. Black is easier to match and looks more classic. Imho hulk is overrated

I don't like green but almost want to buy it just because I had that nickname as young after getting quite angry at something

But yeah green is quite niche. Although in London the Hulk seems super common, when I lived there I saw a few per day, probably because it's noticed more than black watches.

The appreciation for 116610LV is an acquired taste. At first it did nothing for me, I was thinking what kind of persons would wear such loud and green watch. I've seen the hulk at Rolex store in Frankfurt few years ago and under the AD lights it was very loud and bright and I passed on buying it. Approx. 2 years later I've seen one under natural light and that was it- I had to have one. I have a black dial Submariner 14060M (best of 5 digits IMO) and the Hulk which is best of the 6 digits IMO with its radiant and subdued personality. It is mesmerising too observe how its appearance change even in same environment.

From very subdued inky-green (almost black) to vibrant green. Fantastic watch.

You want it for the wrong reasons. Do nothing and let someone else who appreciates it more get it. I would never buy a black sub but love my Hulk.

I love the Hulk but if you don’t then it’s. It for you. May e swap one of the two you already have for something else you love instead? Maybe GMT or something like that.

I was lucky to purchase the hulk a week ago and I love it. The dial is amazing in different light conditions. But I’m a lover of green so if you’re not, you should probably pass. Perhaps find a piece with a blue dial to add some color variation.

Have got 5 Rolex models including Hulk; Rolex color is green ... thus Hulk is the ambassador of the brand color ... read all the answers ... pretty much like reviews and forums ever since it has been launched ... true is that if you don’t like green you shouldn’t buy it ... though this is not just green ... it is emerald green ... annoying for some / appealing to the others ... calming to me as green is the relaxing color ... It is my summer weekend watch ... especially when the sun makes it sunburst ... did not buy it as investments watch but believe it will gain in value over the time ... cheers

That is a great pic of it. I really want this reference. Only the blue Sky Dweller would be ahead of it on my short list.

Only one who can decide if it's for you is you, man. For me, I wasn't a green guy at all, and I had a lot of opinions on it until I actually tried it on. Now I own it, I love it, and it splits time equally with my BLNR. I'm a place in my life where I genuinely couldn't care less what other people think, other than my wife and daughter, of my choices.

SD4K + GMT would make a great pair.
If I had to choose, I’d let the sub go.

I think there’s some “hype” with the LVC and BLNR, which has driven up the demand.
A couple of years back they sat “unLoVed” at ADs. I even recall seeing them discounted
by TRF sellers.

Here’s one https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...highlight=Hulk

Flip the Sub for something you love. The LVc isn’t one to “talk oneself into”.

For me, it was love at first sight, and I’ve loved mine for nearly 7 years.

I was on the fence 4 years ago. Now there’s no watch better.

I’m on the list and when I get it it’ll be that last watch (until the 5396).

And I’ll wear it every day. No other watch I want.

Colour changes in the light, dial looks almost black at an angle. It isn’t too eye catching as you might think, but I find it is a nice piece to wear when I’m dressed casual, it just adds an extra bit of style. The green actually goes well with almost any colour. Makes the classic sub look a bit boring but nice to have variety.
