It's all a scam
Sorry to say but this is old news- but I wouldn’t generalize what this AD said to all ADs, nor would I attribute these practices to Rolex the company . I suspect there are more ADs holding hot SS models in the back (nothing sleezy about this IMO- why put out a watch that is already basically sold) than there are those with overt policies of bundling (which IS sleezy IMO). Was in my AD A few days ago just to chat and there was nothing “hot” in the safe- anything hot that comes in has either been allocated ahead of time or sold to someone on a list within days. This also includes some PM prof models. That’s just the reality of the current situation of supply vs demand. Sucks to be a casual or first time Rolex SS buyer unless you want a datejust.

ADs have to bundle otherwise they won't make Rolex happy. No good stock if they don't sell out from their other lines of selection. Also these aren't breaking the rules... No rules against bundling. No rules against discounting either.

Why do people make such a big deal out of the dealers? There are plenty of new watches on the grey market. Pay the premium and done deal.

So far I've been offered a hulk and a batman. I've purchased 4 watches from my AD so far. Holding out for the Daytona!

...and yet with patience I have managed to still get almost every reference I want without a bundle!

I'm moving on frankly. I have my name at the AD for the two models I'd like, but am wearing and purchasing other brands now.

Why is it a scam? many other watch companies to choose from.

and its not like at every moment all sought after models are in the vault. depends on the AD....some of the more upstanding don't play the game of bundling with PM. but then it's not like they will put the hot SS on display either. AD will size up the potential to see if he/she is a potential flipper |

I would love to see the “vault” I don’t know your relationship with this AD but that sounds like major BS.
I know what I would do, buy a WG Daytona or BLRO then buy the SS Daytona that is in the “vault” sell it and make a ton of cash. Then tell the AD thanks for the incredible discount on the PM watch. |

I too was very disappointed to learn from an AD they do have hard to get models in the safe for the right buyer.

Trusting an AD is like trusting a stripper with love.
I’ve been feeling this way for a while but the only honest relationship worth maintaining in this hobby is with a decent Grey Dealer. He gets me the watches I want at q decent price. Most recently he got me a Blue DJ41, fluted bezel, brand new with my name on the card for msrp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

from my limited experience (had the Rolex bug for 20+ years but have only visited AD's for the last 6 months) the implicit understanding from the AD's I encounter is be a regular customer (don't think they mean buy more than 1 PM) let them see you're local and it goes from there....unsure what regular means is it two purchases a year? so I will follow that by giving that AD first consideration if I need to buy an item for a relative...hopefully it will work out
