The Milgauss doesn't wear too bulky visually. The case is nicely curved on the sides giving it a very refined look and great wrist presence.

However, in terms of weight, the Milgauss does wear top heavy, much moreso than the Sub (I've owned both). This is due to the iron faraday cage. If I were to venture a guess I'd say that the Milgauss is probably the heaviest all SS Rolex, short of maybe the Skydweller. This is something you either get used to or you don't. To be honest, as much as I loved my Milgauss, I never really got used to the top-heaviness. After a year I ended traded it towards my CHNR. While I believe the CHNR is heavier than the Milgauss overall, the weight is much more evenly distributed, so it wears more comfortably.

I think you're AD is onto something. The DJ 41 is in my mind the ultimate GADA watch, especially smooth bezel on oyster...black dial even moreso.

I have had both and for me it would be the Exlporer. I prefer a flip lock and the Milgauss was never comfortable for me.

Explorer, hands down. It’ll be the one that’s on my wrist when I die of old age, and the others will have long been passed on to my son. It exudes a level of sleek coolness that I doubt I will ever find in any other watch.

Explorer I is the classiest watch in the entire Rolex lineup. If I had a billion dollars I would still rock the Explorer. Milgauss is an interesting watch, and my wife really likes it, I just can't see it as an every day watch.

I had a black Milgauss but traded it for a Zblue which kept calling me. You should try one on to decide how it feels on your wrist. I'm not an Expl hater but it never did it for me, I chose the Air King over that one. Your ADs giving you good advice on the DJ41 in black. My 41 and Zblue are two of the top three favorites of mine and are both keepers for sure. Good luck choosing...

I had the Milgauss and loved it but the orange/peachy circle bothered me against a lot of shirts. I now have the Explorer 39mm and it's my favorite watch.

Odd that the watch with a soft iron shield around the movement weighs less than the one without. I've not tried on the Milgauss, but I think the Sub's weight is better distributed throughout the case, whereas people have commented the Milgauss feels a little top-heavy.

My 39mm Explorer is 135 grams with all links. I liked the weight and feel of the Milgauss, probably more than any watch I owned but I could see it as an issue on a smallish wrist.

This is an interesting question. I wore my black milgauss for about 3 months straight. I figured I should start rotating, so I started to wear my Explorer. I miss the milgauss. I love the Explorer as it is more iconic, but there's something about the milgauss that is just so nice. But in the end it is all up to your personal preference.

Have you tried both on? That's the number 1 advice anyone can give you. Then decide which calls to you. I've tried both and for me, the Explorer one hands down. I never considered a Milgauss but tried one and it wasn't to my liking.

The whole case is polished. A fully brushed bracelet would look entirely out of place. What you want is an AK - same case as the Milgauss only brushed, and the bracelet is brushed too.

People always spout the same thing about the Milgauss being “top heavy”. It has an iron core behind the dial- if the weight is in access anywhere, it would be bottom heavy. In practice it is not that thick (I have many thicker watches that don’t get called out as such) and not that heavy. It doesn’t even come that high in the list of Rolex heavy weights. If weight was a real concern then people would be entirely put off PM and only buy titanium.
