I have a 6.75” wrist and thought the 15400 was a little bulky on my wrist, so I sought out a 15450. A couple of my friends told me beforehand that I wouldn’t like it because the proportions are off. I found an AD with both the silver and grey dial in stock, and well... my friends were right.
It’s a beautiful watch and it probably fits me better than my old 15300 even, but the case proportions just struck me as off balanced. Even though the case fits well, I was struck by the thickness of it and also how small the dial is. The bracelet is also quite... dainty feeling. As much as it pained me to leave the AD empty handed, it just isn’t the watch for me. Perhaps the 38mm chrono will be the perfect fitting AP for me. So, I don't think the 15450 will be the next big thing because the size is too polarizing. I really think it works best on 6.5" and smaller wrists. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Honestly i feel that the proportions are way off on the 15450. The dial is also too small for my 6.5" wrist and for that size the thickness is more pronounced. Personal preference I guess.

For those who might be curious, here is the fit of the 15300 vs the 15450 on a 6.25” wrist (notice the lug overhang):

No it’s far too small.

I would be interested if someone could confirm the diameter of a 15450 dial vs 15202 or 15300.
I think that they are similar, the +2mm of diameter rather focused on the bezel. |

Yes, this discussion of the 15450 having a tiny dial surprises me. I think the dial diameter may not be any smaller than on a Sub or GMT Master. Can someone give us the dimensions across the crystals? |

Yes! That one is a 15450. I certainly don’t disagree that it fits well, but the dial size really threw me. I know it’s all about perception but coming from 40mm Rolex, it does look like a significant difference to me. It’s all about what you want but for me the 15450 looked a bit dressier than sporty. A couple more pics of the 450 along with 15202 that my buddy graciously let me try. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

AP had it really good with the 15300, and unfortunately the 15202 is out of reach for most. Hoping that the new 38mm ROC will be a good sweet spot. |

I didn't listen to them and went on to buy a blue dial 15450 from my guys at the bal harbour boutique, and later sold it b/c it felt off to me. The proportions of the case and the narrow/tapered bracelet just weren't things I could reconcile. |

After owning a 15450 and later a 15400 -- with both feeling off-- I couldn't be happier with the 15202. It looks fantastic on wrists between 6.5-7.5" IMO |

The 15450 will never appeal to the masses. It appeals to smaller wrists, but you need to grab everyone to make something “hyped.”

the 15202 is not a great fit for people with smaller wrist though, which is those who would be cross shopping the 15450. The 15202 while smaller has more outward pointing lugs, think it may actually fit less well than the 15400 if you ignore the thickness. It doesn't hug the wrist.

This really is a case of Goldilocks, and the "perfect" fit is 10K more, and has its own downsides too.
Push come to shove, I'd rather go bigger than smaller, especially since oversize is kind of AP's thing anyways. |

Question ... with the 41mm recently refreshed with the 15500 ... when do we think the 37mm size will get a model refresh?
It seems the old 41mm and current 37mm were released around the same time in 2012.. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ex...mm-and-15450-3 Could a 37mm refresh be around the corner? |

I pondered about getting my first Ap for quite some time. Taking a break from Rolex for a change. And after reading all the threads...
I finally pulled the trigger. |

I don't think there's any right or wrong or incorrect choice, its all down to personal preference and to a degree what you're used to seeing. Nowadays I'm used to big watches and can't imagine myself wearing anything smaller than a 41, it just looks too small - to me.
However many years ago, before I was in the fortunate position of being able to obtain higher end pieces, the watches I had were smaller, such as the TAG Heuer 6000 series, which to me then looked perfect. But now it would look (to me) too small. |
