26401PO They were recently discontinued but had a long production so not too hard to find. Still one of the best deals in AP as it originally retailed for over $100k before AP had their price drop and the LE models it PT still go for much more than this piece.

My wife has two watches, both under $400. All that she cares about is that they work; that’s why she has only quarts timepieces. She would love an Apple Watch, but they are ugly.

He's not the only one. With a son in the username, I assume you are not "a wife, " so how can you be so sure?

There was just zero reason to generalize.
He could have said "my wife.... Am I alone"

I got pretty thick skin, but i don't like being categorized.

There's a great video I saw awhile ago with the Head of Cartier I believe.

He said men come in and buy their wives expensive automatic movement watches, and he tries to tell them to get the quartz, and to many women, a watch is a piece of jewelry, and isn't looked at the same way a man looks at a watch.

He chuckles, and says usually within two weeks or so, the man comes back, and exchanges the watch for a quartz movement, as she doesn't want to set the time or thinks the battery is dead.

Just different ways some people look at things I gather....have to spend some more time searching for the video, it was quite interesting.

If many of us men here were married to a CW21, don't you think we would do the same?

The newer one with blue ceramic and camo strap is steel vs this one is platinum.

This is the updated version but is a LE of 20. https://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/wa....OO.A002CR.01/

Sorry I didn’t mean for this post to be offensive or sexist in any way, I was gobsmacked when my wife handed me her watch and we laughed about it afterwards.

It’s a bit like the 5711 vs the 5711P, the platinum pre anniversary model that people thought was an urban myth. The differences are there but they’re quite subtle. The blue face on the new watch is a brighter blue and together with the blue ceramic I could imagine that in bright sunlight the blue will really stand out.

No apology required Ash.

I enjoy setting all my wife’s watches, quartz or mechanical.

It’s what I/we do.

As for some of the other posts?

There are some always looking for an ‘issue’.

I didn't find it offensive. Just having fun.

When my wife hands me things to do like that it's because she can't be bothered with it.

No he’s not. I think it’s sexist. My wife thinks it’s sexist. And a lady who is a member here thinks it’s sexist. Both ladies felt insulted.

IMO, a guy would need an excess of neanderthal alleles to not see the problem with this thread.

Is your wife’s watch the Daytona? Those are known to have extremely weak batteries...

Again I’m sorry to anyone who was offended by this post. The Daytona was a gift to my wife for doing an amazing thing that only a woman can do......giving me a son. She could have asked for almost anything and she chose a pretty cool looking watch. The point of the thread that I failed to get across is that there’s more to a watch than a pretty face. ‘Nuff said.

My wife knows how to wind it but has a hard time due to her nails and all. I don’t mind setting it when I need to. But seriously a winder alleviates these problems. Regardless, try and teach your wife. I’m sure she can comprehend how it works in basic terms, right?

Exact opposite situation here, my father in law worked on watches for decades, we still have his old notebooks with hundreds of pages of what watches he worked on and what he had done to them.
When my now wife and I were going out she said that mechanical watches have a soul!
I have his old workshop light above my workbench in the garage.

I guess it really boils down to whether she cares about the watch in the first place. Don't confuse how you feel for how she feels. A fancy watch or any watch may just not be the thing for her.
