Tudor is a great watch but I would hold out and save for the smurf. Long run....its going to be much more worth it.

Lots of good feedback on the Pelagos. Thanks everyone. Really leaning towards acquiring one.

I don’t need to save for the smurf. It is not a matter of affordability. I guess I just have issue owning a single watch of that value. I have no problem with the idea of owning 5-10 watches in the 5-15k range each but just can’t wrap my head around the idea of a single watch of that value even though my others are cumulatively more valuable. Anyone else think this way in regards to the upper limit of what you are willing to pay for a single watch?

I don’t ever buy watches with thoughts of selling or residual value. I know the case can be made for more expensive watches but I just don’t think that way on purchases for myself.

I’m in the same camp Wes

I understand completely. Everyone has their comfort zone. I have watches of varying value, but you start wondering if the enjoyment multiple is relative to the cost multiple. For example

I really like my Pelagos, and bought it used for less than $3,000. Do I enjoy it 10 Times more than say a Citizen....yes, I do. Would I enjoy a “smurf” 10 times more than a Pelagos? Tough to say, but I doubt it.

It's a great watch, have owned a two liner in black and the four liner in both blue and black. Blue is my favorite, probably will buy again in the future

I actually tried this on today my first time handling a Tudor. Sorry to disagree with the Tudor fans here but to me it felt totally inferior to the Sub (obviously it will from price) but I thought even the Seamaster felt better.

I didnt like the light cheap feeling bracelet, the markers look like theyre made of white plastic. It just didnt do anything for me.

It's a tool watch in the true sense. No nonsense about it , titanium isn't for everyone. Doesn't have the heft of SS but that's a good thing (being larger )makes it easy to wear

Larger makes it more visible , lack of white-gold indices eliminates reflections
Contrast of white indices and hands against the blue or black just make this about the most legible face available

I have a Seamaster and it's a great watch , a classic in its own right . Much different than pelagos , polished and jewel like . Thank goodness Omega finally made an adjustable clasp for it

I can go on. But let's just say different strokes for different folks

It's hard to deny the high tech features of thie Pelagos are top shelf

I've had a Pelagos blue for two years now and I still love it. It is, in my opinion, the one of the best values available in luxury watches.

I have two Rolexes and a Speedmaster Pro and the Pelagos gets the most wrist time by far. I am also a bigger guy, 6'4" (my wife will tell you 6'3"), 200, with bigger wrists and I have never felt like it was too big or thick. It's the right size on me.

I too love the blue/white gold Rolex, but I too will probably never be able to justify that kind of cash, even for a pre-owned...at least not for a long time. The Pelagos blue scratches that itch for me perfectly. I love the blue tone on it. I no longer lust after the Rolex.

Also, the engineering on the bracelet...the quicksizing and the spring-loaded adjustable clasp are cool and highly functional...perfect for hot days where you're active and your wrist fluctuates in size.

I was wearing the Pelagos when I went into my local Rolex AD a while back; the salesmen there had never seen one before. They were really impressed, especially by the bracelet. Kind of funny.

The other thing is, if you're one of those "don't want to have the same watch as anyone else at the party" guys, the Pelagos blue checks that box. I just recently saw the first one I've ever seen other than mine (except on the internet), and that was on TV (the reporter on the Last Days of Knight 30-for-30 episode). I mentioned it to my wife; she was not impressed. Although, to be fair, if you have a $35,000 Rolex, you probably won't run across many of those either.

So, in sum, Pelagos blue, great watch, great value, great color.

My best friend bought one in Turks & Caicos 18 months ago. Loves it. It's by far the best diver watch available. A true tool watch. IMO better than a Sub. Not even close.

Blue Pelagos is my only watch now. Every time I look at it, it gives me a boost. Love it.

Second best will always be just that.

I owned a black face Pelagos during my big watch days and liked it at the time, the self expanding bracelet was a neat touch but I found it a bit cheap if I’m being honest. The block hands and what looked like a plastic dial only served to confound that feeling and I sold it within 6 months.

Not hating - You either like it or you don’t.

It's a great watch. At the end of the day, a little too much blue for me, so I ended up with the LHD, which I love.

One word of caution, though. If you have an itch for a smurf, don't get the Pelagos as a 'hold over.' Nothing's gonna scratch that itch but a smurf.

I’ve owned a blue Pelagos and ultimately sold it. It’s a great watch overall but what annoyed me was the colour of the dial does not perfectly match the bezel. The dial in a lot of lighting has a purple undertone whereas the bezel is a true blue. If the dial was the same blue as the bezel as it is in the Smurf, I would have kept that thing forever.

That being said, I’m considering the black Pelagos now.
