I’d wait.

Looking at the sales listings, I can see that asking prices are coming down and the number of bumps are increasing.

Also there’s lots of new sellers/flippers/chancers out there trying to make a quick buck.

I honestly think prices will come down within the next year as the economy is softening.

If money is not an issue, then just become a VIP at your local AD and get access to all the hard to get models. Just spend money on other models or jewelry and you will quickly become a preferred customer. Doesn't hurt to make them like you on a personal level as well.

Only people who should be going grey and paying massive premiums are those that really want a particular model and have little interest in getting anything else.

EDIT: To make it simple for you, check out the catalogue and see if you like any of the precious metal models. Just go to an AD and talk a bit and mention you'd be interesting in bundling the two models together. Any AD that doesn't agree isn't worth the time. They make huge money on selling PM models and they aren't easy to move. Also, it gives you VIP status because you show you can spend that amount of cash at once. Next time a hot model comes out, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting high up on the list.

Please talk me out of this craziness...

I say wait for it. Grey prices still going down. Back in july batman was selling 17-18k and now you can find one for less than 15k. And even at 15k its not flying off the shelf so that means people are still waiting.

Im talking about 126710 price not the 116710

"Money is not an issue"

But feeling that you got screwed is an issue regardless of how much $$ you have. Exert a little self control, and wait it out. Otherwise you will be haunted by what a sucker you were every time you put it on.

If money is not an issue and you want it, buy it. Time is the valuable thing here. If you wait for the AD to call, who knows when or if that will happen.

How can you feel screwed or think of yourself as a sucker if you pay market value I don't understand ?
Kissing up an AD would give me that feeling

If I was in the market for a BLNR I would simply buy one. Life is too short to wait for an undefined period of time

I honestly believe that no piece is worth a premium. If you think it’s worth it then go for it.

Same here. I refuse to pay a premium and feed the frenzy. However, that's me - if money is no object, then by all means.

You could wait for an AD. to get one.....maybe they will....maybe not....

You could buy on the open market at the current price.....at least you will have it

Rolex is always raising prices...so what will this do to the Grey prices going forward?

If you buy Grey now the watch will be worth more or less down the road...nobody knows....

If you have the money and you really want the watch maybe you should buy it and don’t look back....I think thats what I would do. If you end up losing some money oh well...you can’t take it with you.

I would do it. I paid grey market prices recently with a BLRO and have not looked back. I never thought I would pay over retail, but that's today's market. Buy it and enjoy it.

The BLNRs are steadily dropping in price. They’ll be $12k in 6 months’ time.

Its your money, do what you want with it, if paying over the odds for the watch is something that you will feel comfortable with and will let you sleep at night then go-ahead fuel the grey market and buy the watch.

After all you won't feel bad about it will you, you won't regret spending that extra money on the watch, that extra money that could have taken you away on a nice break, that extra money that could have gone towards another watch, there's nothing to feel bad about is there? You will feel no guilt over all that extra money going out of the piggy bank on a new sparkly bauble to wear on your wrist, no guilt at all.

So you know what, if the watch is your dream and you have the money but no patience, feel free to spend that money on that lovely new watch. And when you have it on your wrist and you have posted the obligatory pictures on TRF you will be able to sit back and look at your second-hand watch and think of all the things that you could have done with that money if only you had mastered the art of patience.

Go and buy it, enjoy it and wear in good health, let's just hope that it's value doesn't drop as the market collapses.

Don’t do it. Visit you AD and explain. They are human. They know you won’t flip. You’ll be surprised how it can work to your advantage with patience.

Don't waste your time or money. The value of an item is what the market commands. I would talk to a couple of the big Grey dealers here on TRF and get the best deal possible and buy the watch. No one has a crystal ball and can tell how the market will change but it is not a loss unless you sell the watch for less than you paid. If you want it, get it. Wear it and enjoy it. Is that not worth something. Some how we have gotten into a mentality that you make money off watches and get to wear them also. That is correct on some watches but not most. I would get it today and have it delivered to my door by 1030 tomorrow morning. Post some incoming pictures and go about enjoying the watch and living my life. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

Everyone is different here and by now you’ve read every opinion from life’s too short, to don’t pay or MRSP.

There’s no right or wrong answer, only you will know what’s best for you.

It sounds to me like you might have regret paying gray, but maybe I read that into your post from my way of thinking. Now you know where I stand

Forget the retail price, if you can afford anything at a price it was on sale for and you really wanted it, then it would be more crazy to pass on it.

MSRP is meaningless even on a old common model these days. A new 2019 Baselworld super hot model and you are gonna pay-up or waist your life away in the mercy of your AD hoping he isn’t playing games with you. Is this a luxury purchase or not?

Buy it anywhere near around $15k USD and you won’t get hurt with the new BLNR. $17k and up outside the USA is what it’s bringing.
Regardless what the market does you’ll never get close to MSRP unless you get extremely lucky. I just went through this and have been following the new BLNR since release. The BLRO has shown the market will pay $17k-18k and the BLNR is $16k - $17k. It is what it is as the days of buying either of these two new GMT’s anywhere near MSRP are gone. It’s easier paying market value on a new hot model because it has the new movement and updated gorgeous Jubilee bracelet. I’m not a flipper but desirability for this particular watch is only going to climb in years as it looks unbelievable in real life but even wears more comfortable and thats not always a common trait.

Caddyshack’s famous Coke line rings true here for those that insist on only paying msrp.

The watch is a rock star.

Dude, paying above MSRP for a Rolex is something I personally will not do. I’d rather buy AP and have a truly more sophisticated piece vs hype. But still even APs prices are creeping up. But hey, it’s your money.

You would not pay £1 over MSRP for a Daytona or Pepsi?
I just don't believe that is true. How about 1 pence?

I can get you a 2tone rose gold Root Beer at AD retail from an AD. The watch is gorgeous. I think it’s around $15K. PM me.
