For 12K I hope that was a two-tone model!

But, welcome! And continue to read here, which I hope will change your mind about only wearing it 1-2x per month. Your son might appreciate the watch more if he sees it on your wrist often. Its presence on your wrist will be attached to memories.

I am always firmly in the "wear it" camp.
If you put it in a safe deposit box read the contract carefully and determine if there is any insurance or assurance to you that the watch is safer there than at your house in a gun safe with insurance.

2019 does indeed suck and I’m pretty sure that’s the perfect comment for the Rolex forum these days.

When the new Sub comes out I wouldn’t be surprised to see an across the range price increase too. $12k probably not, but considering the price difference between the SD43 and DSSD many may consider them worth closer to the Sub. I’d guess $10.5k for a new msrp and $15k for secondary market price when that happens. We shall see

I bought my SubC three years ago before they went nuts in price. Yes, almost 10k out the door, taxes included. To be honest, if I lost it today and didn't have it insured , I'd pay 12k tomorrow for another one. It's a wonderful watch and I will leave it for my son when I'm gone. So don't worry about the price. Wear it as much as you can. Let him see you wear it. It becomes an heirloom if he sees that, instead of just a gift. You can't put any price on the joy it will give him to know he got something you truly loved.
Have a blessed weekend everyone and stay safe.

If you cannot wear it you cannot afford it! It’s just a watch! Sounds like a troll post.

Every Ceramic Sub is identical and there are a lot. Why anyone would safequeen one is beyond me. Probably far from the only one doing it too.

you might as well throw that Tag Heuer where it belongs (Hint: not a safe deposit box LOL). Wear the Rolex, enjoy it. When its time to sell the Tag Heuer and you accept 15 cents on the dollar, you will understand why buying a Techniques Avante Guarde anything is a mistake.
