Just stepped in to a AD and inquired if they had an Explorer II? They stated they had net seen one in a year and that Basel 2020 will tell. They said there are two trains of thought either it will be discontinued because it doesn’t sell as well as the GMT, or that it will be reduced in size with a new movement.

In either case, I’m so happy I purchased both the black dial and polar. It’s perfect the way it is.

Congrats, that is why I’m hoping mine is acquired soon as the current version to me captures all the features I like. Wear them in good health!

I went out on the hunt for a polar about 2 months ago. I went to four ADs. The first three took my information and gave me quotes of anywhere from a few months to two years. The fourth AD told me it would be a long time before they could get one for me, but then called me 3 days later to inform me they had “gotten a hold of one” for me.

With a bit of persistence and friendliness you should be able to get this watch pretty quickly.

I’ve got a pretty decent relationship with my AD, so I’m hoping it’s not too too long.

I bought my Polar in may of '18 and since then I've never seen one on display, my AD said after mine he hasn't seen any. I'm not taking this as gospel but it seems nothing of much interest has made it's way out of the safe to even reach the showcase since then. I was offered a Blnr 5 mos. later (oct '18) still in its coffin, of course it's mine too.

Are you going to pull the trigger? That’s a sharp looking timepiece.

Nope, not what I’m looking for. Besides, this was about 2 weeks ago, so probably long gone

What Rolex SS professional models seem to be the most prevalent to come by at an Auth

Just yesterday, saw a DSSD D-Blue, Batman, black Daytona (again).

AK used to be prevalent, it's really not anymore that it is allocated only. Haven't seen a Milgauss in quite a while either.

I used to think the Air King to be too plain, but it has grown on me in its simple elegance. I wish I would have pulled the trigger when I’d had the chance.

I think you can find most if you search around, or can get in a reasonable time on a true waitlist. Sans Daytona, GMT or blue Sky Dweller of course

I’ve seen Air King, Explorer 214270 (which I grabbed), OP39 White w sticks and a white w sticks DJ41 on oyster w smooth bezel.

Have not seen any of the above more than once in the last 6 months.

London very sparse.

Saw a YM midi today and loads of DJ's. No sports models at all.

Just spoke to my AD today and they said they should be able to get the Explorer II Polar. Then added that it was easier to get my JC DSSD than it is the Explorer II Polar.

Just got my explorer 2 polar a few hours ago. I waited less than a month it came in their first shipment from Rolex, today per the AD.

I see a trend of same watch incomings, I would not be surprised if Rolex release in batches and then cut back again.

It’s interesting you say this. Not that I have proof, but I was yet to settle with just one AD and got on a list for a Rolex JC DSSD, not knowing whether the lists were real or not.
Months later I found an AD I clicked with and put down a deposit on the JC DSSD as the AD said I would be next up when it came in. I got it in 11 days. 3 days later the other AD called and said they had the same watch. I said to my wife we should get a lottery ticket. So I do think that Rolex may send them out in batches.

Something people may or may not know, Rolex make watches in batches. Before the bubble reached fever pitch and ADs started keeping SS professional models in the back for preferred customers, whenever you saw a particular model in a window, you'll likely see the same model in another AD's window.

Although Milgauss, Air King and still to an extent Explorer 1 and 2s are not in as much demand as Daytona's, subs, and GMTs, the wait time on them is as long due to the fact Rolex don't pump these models out as much.

According to my AD, as far as SS Pro models are concerned, they get 2 GMTs a month, at least 2 black sub a month, Lvc about 1 every 3-4 months, and 3 Daytona's a year.

Milguass, Air king, maybe 1 every 9 months, either black or polar Exp 2s about 1-2 a year.

If the demand for the less desired models was as bad as the hot pieces, the wait times for those would be even longer then for a Daytona based on current production levels.

It took 6 months almost for my AD to get my Polar Explorer II.
