No. I want a YG DD 36 and still plan on buying one with the price increases. Price when up minimally in my view.

It may. The $9250 I was prepared to pay for the Pepsi is now $9700. $450 increase. No big deal really, but it is helping to push me more towards an Omega or Zenith. Plus the wait is making me lose my wood for the Pepsi.

It’ll push me more towards gray for any PM pieces. WG DD is listed as just under $40K on Rolex.com. That’s a psychological barrier for me.

SS won’t make a difference.

The Canadian increases won’t deter many, especially on the stainless steel.

Probably not but if was considering a Datejust style watch I would lean even more towards Grand Seiko.

I may no be wealthy enough to afford a Daytona or BLNR like it's a pack of gum, but I can still afford the few hundred bucks in increase.

Why would the price matter on something that isn’t readily available for purchase?

Might as well raise the prices 25% and release more watches.

When the price increase was announced, I cancelled my TT Sky Dweller order and bought a SS one on the grey market. The grey premium I paid has been significantly softened by the today's price hike on the Sky Dweller models. I wouldn't have done this if I could have got listed at an AD for a SS Sky Dweller.

I'm still on my AD's list for a TT CHNR. The price rise makes it look less attractive to me, but give it a year or more and I'll probably get used to the difference. I'm not expecting to hear anything before 2022..

Either you pay more on gray for it right away. Or hope to get it at your AD. Anyway price doesn’t matter anymore. It went up anyway. Happy new year to everyone lol time to buy AP

The price increase won't affect me. There is nothing else I want right now. A rising tide lifts all boats, so a price increase only affects me in passive appreciation in value of my watch collection (if that even really matters).

Not for 1 second. For me it will be business as usual. I do not think it will transition much into the SS market maybe into pm pieces but ss I do not believe the prices will go up mucin on the secondary market

Maybe not but people look for cheaper alternatives, that's why hundreds of Pubs have closed in the UK in the last 20 years.
Also many people have stopped smoking due to increasing taxes.

All I see is bravado and hubris from Rolex and some of their customers who seem to be keen to buy at any price.
Rolex isn't a special company, the market will determine whether they have made the right call by increasing their prices.
I am sceptical that many Watch enthusiasts will put up with the price gouging, waiting lists and AD's trying to get people to buy jewellery or less sought after models to get on a list.

The price increase will not affect me in the least as I'm out of the Rolex market for now. I've bought most of my new Rolex watches from 2017 thru '18 and there is nothing within the brand that I wish to add to my collection although I did add two 5 dgt. pieces in 2019. I love all my Rolex but I've been looking more to other brands recently purchasing a VC and thinking of a possible AP without any urgency as I'm content on enjoying what I have.

People will continue buying. Psychology 101. Increase price, and make it harder to obtain. Result - increased demand. It is crazy, but that’s how many people are wired up.

I think you’re right about watch enthusiasts, though. There are many other great brands out there and real enthusiasts will see this.

My wife and I plan on returning to Norway this year which is where I got my 216570 in 2018. Assuming you could find something, it was the best place to buy a watch. Reading comments here, it appears Rolex raised the Norway prices so high that even with a VAT refund prices won't be much lower than OH so why bother. Everything I buy on ebay is now taxed. I'm sure in the future states will require Customs to ask your state of residence and charge you sales tax along with the Customs import duty.

Rolex is a Luxury brand and price isnt as important as the perception of the brand. If the perception of the brand falters then look out for the fire sale.

I’m genuinely curious ... why is it that you shouldn’t pay tax across state borders. I thought it was already law to do so.

Couple thousand increase? No big deal. Think about how much money you blow on your other vices.

Cheers to 2020 :)

Will the price increase affect your buying decision?

Won’t affect my decision one bit. Not much difference between a $10k watch and a $10.5k watch. Equally financially imprudent. . If/when I get the call, the purchase will be made.

I do feel for the guy that’s working towards that $10k piece, bit by bit, and now has to wait even longer to make his purchase. No fun chasing a moving target. It would be a terrible feeling to tell the AD “Thanks for the call, but I can’t buy the piece I’ve been waiting for bc I’m short 500 bucks”

The increase isn't likely to improve the supply issues so no difference.
