Wow, 33 years running with no service. I honestly can’t think of a single item that a person uses for 33 years straight that does not break down. I now see why people say, “Rolex makes work horse movements”

I have tried in the past to upload pictures with no success so in a prior post, I asked my neighbor for assistance as she has a computer and I only an ipad.
I am not going to bother her again just for you doubters. You can see some pictures of my watch several years ago uploaded by her in my thread “No Maintenance in 28 1/2 Years” page 4. The sheet provided by the AD said full factory service, movement service and parts and some other things. If I itemized them (which it didn't) I wouldn’t have bothered to list them all as it’s clear must who are interested in that detail already know. Was my only watch during ownership of 33 years and wore it every day except during several hospitalizations totaling less than a month or two. |

The members who wanted pics are not doubters, they just love to see pics of watches with a story behind them. |

Normally a Wolverine doesn’t agree with someone from Ohio but here is an exception. I consider myself a dinosaur too, but paradoxically I was a mainframe programmer for the majority of my career involved on complex programming tasks. |

I'm sorry but we can't just take your word for it.

Why all the naysayers and doubters?
I have a near similar experience. Dad bought his OP1500 in 1979 (watch SN is 1978, but bracelet code is 1979), and had it serviced in 1983. He wore it until 2008 and put it in a drawer until (very early) 2019 when he gave it to me. It was still running at COSC +5 scp. I had it serviced in Jan 2019. That's 35 years w/o service, of which it was worn 25 years without service. My AD is a Rolex "Plaque AD" and the watchmaker is CW21. He was able to save the dial and hands perfectly. He did replace the second hand, because there was corrosion near the spindle. Also replaced the crystal, crown, and crown tube. He used Rolex parts as he has the Rolex acct. He also told me later in 2019 Rolex is no longer supplying some pf the parts for this movement, Prior to asking him to service it, I also had it looked at by Rollieworks in San Francisco and Giovanni on Post St in San Francisco - both agreed it was in amazing condition for its age. Dad takes very good care of his things. I'll see if I can get some pictures up. This stone-age platform for a forum makes it difficult. PS he told me he paid about $600 something in 1979 and another $300 or so for service in 1983. My service cost about $950 in 2019. |

I read halfway down the first page and then just scanned for pics into the second page. Still no pictures!! What a tease! Might as well say your granny's ass has no wrinkles. The proof for this may not be in the picture but it would be a good start! BTW, we don't need to see Granny's ass, just the watch.

Yeah definitely would love pictures.
The not showering with it though? It's like worrying your umbrella is going to get wet. |

Thanks for sharing, OP. It is nice to know that some people on this forum truly cherish and their mechanical watches and treat them well.
