I think the platinum is 89k in Canada . Not a whimsical purchase in my mind

If you are nonchalant about watch buying, sounds like you are.... Get the platinum and just add the stainless steel when it comes in.

The platty is special and feels special. The steel can be your holiday watch by the sounds of it.

If you have purchased 30 watches, a steel Daytona won't really be a stretch to add when it comes in.

That is pretty much what a Buckhead AD offered to do for me...and at a discount. He offered that on the Platona since I had mine stolen. Then I would be the next person to get the 116500.

Ummm...I said thanks but no thanks.

I must have missed something in these two threads that led to a ban for the OP, but if money isn’t a primary consideration, then the heft and appearance differences is what will drive the purchase.

Seems like given your situation you should get both and decide which one you like more after wearing it you'll either sell one for a gain or one for a loss that shouldn't be a problem

Why did you pass? That sounds like a good deal.

Of course, that's assuming you had insurance money from the Daytona that was stolen.

IMHO, the Pt is so much nicer than the SS; I owned an SS and never really bonded with it. I have bonded strongly with the Pt Daytona.

I was self insured and still hoping to get it back. We did recover one due to excellent Police work.

I mean if buying a $70k+ watch is a casual purchase for you, why not get it? If that doesn't put you next in line for the 116500, then idk what would...

No; stainless wins here. Th platinum Daytona is a novelty and is really not part of its dna as a tool watch. Secondly the blue and brown is an odd combination. If are going to drop that kind of dough, I would be more inclined to the early 80’s (not the Newman style-don’t like them) Daytona which were incredibly more legible and looked cooler.

To me this original post reads, “I’m so rich it doesn’t matter that the watch costs $50k+ more than the SS watch and I just want to brag about it.”

Why even bother asking ppl.

Not that I believe a word of OPs post, but if you recently bought 30 watches from an AD, the manager/owner should pull a SS Daytona from their arse for you.
