Totally agree: mine was originally Pepsi and was able to purchase from RSC in NYC a Coke as well as all black insert. For the Coke, they happily swapped it while I waited back in their lounge in '06. Those days are probably long gone.

Yep that’s all true! but it all makes the watch more ubiquitous. I favor the 16700 because, well, Who doesn’t have a 16710 (including me)?

Finally made a deal on a '91 16710, full set and with all three inserts this past friday! Couldn't be happier with the watch! It wears so distinctly different than my 116234 - I have to get used to it!
Now, I’m debating if I should get a jubilee for it, just for the sake of variation.

Oh, and maybe someone can tell me - how much of a click should the bezel be making when rotating? I've tried to find videos on YouTube, but to no avail.
Is the turn-action smooth or should it click distinctly, like a modern Submariner (eg. 114060)?

It’s a softer click (softer than my dive watches). It can be more or less crisp if there’s gunk under the bezel, but in my experience it’s never fully crisp, in part because it’s 120 clicks (ie, stops on every minute marker and also halfway in between each marker), so there’s not a ton of space between each position.

Ah, alright! That makes sense! Thanks for the clarification.
I guess my watch (still feels surreal saying that) must have some gunk under it - the clicks are quite soft.
Real question is now, do I dare pop off the bezel and clean it myself....

Yeah I wouldn’t worry about it too much, if you can get it to land correctly lined up on the minute markers without much trouble then it’s working.

The end of the click spring is bent in sort of an elbow joint shape to make it bi-directional. So it's a rounded shape that lands in the teeth of the bezel ring. Not like the harsh cut off on a Sub click spring. Both have a distinct feel but Subs are definitely more 'clicky'.

Haven't seen a GMT-Master model that I didn't like.

Having said that, the pepsi config on a 16710 emphasizes how thin the bezel inserts are. I personally prefer the wider ones.

Do it very frequently with basic "tools' lying around the house. Never scratched it. I just cover it with a microfiber cloth while pressuring it into place
