In my eyes the Odysseus line remains Lange's weakest effort in terms of design by a large margin. Keeping these end links in place for the strap versions looks just as bad as the bracelet / case combination earlier. Just no! |

Still fugly. The rubber new straps don’t help. Overall it’s still a hot mess. It’s Lange’s CODE11:59

I quite like the steel version and bracelet. But I’m not at all a fan of these.
I’m not sure that’s fair. I think the Code gets a special place in watch “h@ll”. |

I am reposting this, beacuse I need some info quick!
So I have my Odysseus SS apparently coming in soon, but I am concerned about the strap swap-ability on these pieces. First I was told that all the pieces would be swap-able. Now I've been told that the first 200 of the SS pieces are able to swap out straps (but only external straps). The SS after the first 200 will in fact have a fixed steel bracelet. Finally, the WG Rubber will not fit the SS, but other rubber will?!!?!?! I am waiting to hear if this is internal lange straps or only an external brand. If anyone knows anything, please let me know! JPS

Alright, a few days of digesting and I kind of want the white gold on rubber now. With that said, I think there are other sports watches at that price point I'd still take first.
Would love to see one in person... |

So I own the Odysseus in steel and there are a couple of points that I think might help break this watch down a bit, as both the marketing and the press shots offer a confusing perspective on the watch. First off - for those ripping on the design of either the gold or the steel - go check this thing out in person. You may still dislike it, I get it, but like the 11:59, it's a whole other watch in person. Granted, the 11:59 suffers from an excellent case with a challenging dial, where as this watch is a much more cohesive design, even if it doesn't appeal to you. In short - these do NOT photograph well, but wear very well. Second, this isn't a sports watch - I mean neither is the royal oak or the nautilus, let's be honest - but this watch is not pretending to be one either. Lange defines it as a "leisure watch" which makes a ton more sense, frankly. This is a Lange to be worn when you're wearing tshirts and shorts, not a suit and tie. We can debate back and forth about whether you can dress down Lange 1s (I think you can) but not the point when it comes to the design language and approach. All of that said, the fact that Lange won't let you buy rubber straps for the steel reference strikes me as bizarre, but hey, I don't make the rules.

For such a bland and boring piece they are working pretty hard to advertise it...must be a lot of profit in that $40k

I like the WG/Rubber more. In general i like gold/rubber combination, having a 116655 and a 116519LN. Furthermore I am an happy L1 owner and will buy soon a Zeitwerk.
So in short I’m one of their “target” buyers.. Definitely a watch to try on the wrist |

I often wear the VC Overseas on leather, which I actually slightly prefer over the bracelet, so used to a leisure watch on a strap. Against this backdrop, the WG Odysseus on leather oddly speaks to me, while both the ripper and the steel options are clear misses in my book.
