Yes that Omega 300M is getting LOTS and LOTS of love and for good reason. Its a killer watch for the price
imho it kills the sub hands down in terms of technology and price and honesly in looks as well. In saying that every Rolex lover should have a sub. Either SS, TT or PM sub in any collection. Multiple subs? nah I dont think that is wise. |

I really wanted a hulk. But couldn’t get on a list at my AD... I am starting to want a smurf. But with the hulk unobtainable from my AD and smurf a bit too expensive for me right now, I’ve compromised and I’m buying a watch that in many ways I don’t actually see as a compromise, the BB58

I had been looking for one, for tired of waiting and jumped on a 126660 DSSD.
Really didn’t like how large the DSSD was, despite being a big enough guy that it didn’t look (too) silly on me I sold it at a nominal loss after 5 months. Replaced it with a white Omega Seamaster. Hoping this scratches the dive watch itch and would be happy to have the extra cash in pocket too ;-) |

Because I wear a GMT LN as my daily as it’s more useful for my needs, and once you have one black bezel Rolex, you essentially have them all as they are not dissimilar enough to warrant buying anymore.

Not me, have always had one, in fact it was the sub that made me first decide in the end not to buy an Omega I had had my eye on.

Short answer: those lugs
Long answer: I love switching out straps on all my watches to change things up a bit, and the 6-digit Sub really only looks good on the bracelet due to those fat lugs. So like others, I went with the SD4K |

(Not to say that us Rolex heads couldn't justify 2 of the same model) Edit. Just noticed the far right. Not sure which sub that is as it has a red seconds hand (possibly reflection) |

I did, because I had just got a call for the Pepsi a bit earlier, ended up not liking the Pepsi and should have picked up the Sub in hindsight, but he, pretty sure new opportunities will come.

I guess he modded one of them, seems like a red seconds hand and no crown guards

The GMT looks better, is more practical, and far less common.

I currently have four Rolex Divers in my collection. A ND, DSSD JC, Hulk and a YG Submariner 116618LB. Great watches and I feel linked to the model as my first Rolex was a Submariner back in the early 90's. I try to keep at least one Rolex Diver in the rotation but have found, of late, I prefer the Tudor's and Seiko's more.

Funny a couple years ago I saw a friend of mines with a Sub and thought, that may be the first Rolex . But then I started going on the Rolex website and looking up different watches and the Sub was the one I thought would be my first. Well, after doing my research the Sub kind of fell out of my plans. I don't dive and it looked like everyone had one. So, I started looking into the Milgauss and the Air King something different from the norm and ended up with the AK and a few months late got the DJ41. Happy with both.

I decided on a Tudor BB and Omega Planet Ocean over the classic ND Sub, and am very happy with them. Both just have that little pop of color on the dial/bezel. Plus I already have the TT bluesy, which is the Sub I really wanted in the first place, so for me it made sense to expand my horizons a bit.

I'm always amused when I hear the remark "Everyone has a Sub" or "You see them everywhere." I can't name one friend of mine who has a Sub and rarely see anyone wearing a Sub and I'm always in scan mode. My first Rolex was a Sub. I have since purchased a Batman and JC DSSD. The Sub rarely leaves my wrist--THE perfect watch. If I were a "one-watch guy" it would definitely be a Sub!

Thought about condensing and getting a Sub. I tried it on at Tourneau and just ended up really disliking the way it wore on me. Don't misunderstand me, I still think it's a great watch, it just doesn't work well for me.
I bought a Datejust 41 Dark Rhodium with smooth bezel and oyster bracelet instead.

I don't do underwater diving so I bought an OP 116000.

I bought a sub C no date from an AD. Loved it the first couple of months, but after that I started to think it looked slightly awkward on me. It looked amazing when I took it off, but on my wrist looked strange. I remember when considering the sub I read on TRF that “it may be 40mm, but it wears like a 42mm”. I found this statement to be true upon wearing for awhile. I traded (plus some cash received ) for an explorer 1- 214270. Not regretting my decision so far! I do miss the feel/sound of the rotating bezel.

This. Plus, I am unwilling to pay current prices (preowned or new) for Subs. Too bad...the Sub is a glorious watch design.

Like a number of you, I bought the Omega SMP professional. I bought it a couple months ago with the black face on the rubber strap. I have a GMT and, frankly, I don't think the sub contrasts with it enough to own both. I also just couldn't wrap my head around the price difference for what I got. I paid under $4k for the Omega and it is a great watch. Keeps +/- 1 time and is a good looking movement. the watch has really grown on me too. I find myself wearing it quite a bit, even though I have a BLNR, SkyD, 1969 AK, DJ II and Cellini date. I certainly have nothing negative to say about the sub, but the price and closeness in appearance (to my eye at least) with the GMT prompted me to go with the Omega.

Who decided in the end not to buy a Sub and why?
So I decided to let pass a Hulk (didn’t smile to me) but instead got this...

I passed on a sub ND and I'm still waiting for an explorer 1. For me an Exp 1 is a better fit for how I want to use the watch(beater, occasionally under a shirt cuff, and doesn't scream Rolex).
The sub is perhaps the most iconic rolex design and a fantastic watch. My preference from an Exp 1 doesn't take away from my admiration of the sub. |

You sold the ND?? Ok we need a video explaining why they were too similar. You were so passionate about your ND in your YouTube Vids. Btw, your vids do a good job showing them off and reviewing them...keep them coming Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
