I really like it- looks original to me. I'm hoping to acquire a 116710LN someday. If I do, I'll see if I can tolerate the PCL's. If not, they're going to be brushed, no hesitation. Thanks for showing it off- it gives me motivation!

Depends on what you mean “aftermarket”? I mean a genuine Rolex Glidelock bracelet that would normally be on a 114060/116600LN sub. Typically cost is around $2k. That way, you could save the original bracelet. I did the same thing you did and took a hit when I sold it.

Takes guts, looks great. I used to prefer brushed but after all these years I’ve come to love the polished links too.

As a few others stated, center link looks a bit rough, over brushed perhaps. Nice watch otherwise, enjoy!

Looks much better and Rolex should offer that choice to owners when we buy them. Lots of people like to make their watch a bit more individual and there are too many purists on the forum who are too focused on thinking everything should be factory spec. If Rolex let us choose whether we want Jubilee or Oyster, brushed or PCL it would bring a new level of owner satisfaction.
Anyway, this one is now exactly how you wanted it to be. |

the polished center links never made much sense to me on a SS sports model...the new generation moved away from it. If its a dressy watch (TT/DJ) its fine, but i like the brushed SS more. Great call.

It’s a tool watch. PCLs don’t belong. Did it to my BLNR GMT a few weeks after receiving it years ago.
Gave a new BLNR to my best friend 2 yrs ago. Before they wrapped it up for me I had jeweler brush it down knowing my buddy would have never worn it if had come looking fancy. Nice job. Beautiful watch and bracelet!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looks like they did a good job but since I’m not really bothered by scratched up PCLs it’s not something I could do.

I’m not enamored with the modifying of OEM watches. Undoubtedly it looks good, since similar variants (like the sub) have this aesthetic. Conversely, I am also a firm believer that its own watches and we can do with them what we wish.

I like it.
I bought a 97200 glide lock bracelet to put on my 116710s so that I did not have to change the OEM bracelet.

Not for me I'm afraid. Much prefer PCLs and they nicely distinguished the watch from a sub.

I think it looks good. As long as you like it and you are not planning on selling it you should be happy with the results.

LOVE IT! Did the same to my Omega AT41 and couldn't be happier. Your GMT looks stunning, and you're happy, which is all that matters.

I like it. The classic 1675 and 16710 GMT Oyster bracelets didn't have polished links; I think the brushed links are more appropriate on a sports tool watch than the flashy polished look which appear somewhat gaudy to my eye.

Beautiful! Great look! I personally prefer the GMT with the PCL’s, especially in the oyster bracelet.

you just murdered it ! the grain in the polished centre links looks far far too course and slightly not straight as if it was done by hand , it now looks like a messed about with watch and non original , should have got a submariner bracelet with glidelock on it instead of doing what you have done .
sorry if its not what you want to hear but you did ask , really all that matters if your happy with it ? |
