At the price Rolex charge for their sports models it opens a wealth of other watch
brand's options at the similar £value. Then it's just about how loudly their marketing resonates. |

If you can get that Omega now, get it, if you don't like it, I am sure you can sell it for some profit.
Many people always said that there are so many brands that higher horology than Rolex such as PP, AP, ALS.., but their prices are a lot higher too. I think Rolex is still one of the best for money.

You have plenty of Rolex watches, time to move on and diversify your collection. I mean I love my Rolex and have owned many over the years. But the Deep sea, sub, yach master, gmt, sea dweller, they are are basically the same watch using the same platform, save for some minor cosmetics. Nothing wrong with that, but time for some variety.

Apology if I wasn’t clear. I’m not intend to sell in the future, I keep all my watches. So the retain value or resell profit isn’t my concern. The dilemma is my budget doesn’t allow me to get all of them (I suppose that’s the downside of not willing to sell). I’m afraid I will not have the chance to get my AD put me on the waitlist of another GMT or sub in the future if I let go this time. The snoopy is a beautiful especially after I saw it on the wrist of my mate, the blue and sliver is really an eye catcher.

Sounds like you’d get more enjoyment from a collection of diverse brands. Get a Patek, an Omega or some other other fine non Rolex brand. Speedmaster Pro is an amazing timepiece. It’s ok. You might even appreciate your Rolex collection a little more when you can diversify your wearing routine. Options are a good thing

The Snoopy is a special watch and it's like nothing in your current collection. My vote goes to the Snoopy.

If you are being offered the new Omega Snoopy, I would buy it. I don't own a modern Omega (I have a few vintage), but I really like this one. The silver/white dial and blue combination is very nice.

Get the Snoopy. If you don't love it, sell it for a hefty profit

A Rolex watch has more to it than the sum of its parts.
Deep inside, you know the answer to your own question. It’s clear you are compromising and that’s not good. It’s not coincidence that Rolex has become a legendary brand and a synonym of timekeeping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can't speak to Omega, but I've found that other watch brands always leave me with something to be desired (Tag, Breitling, Cartier). Rolex is my sweet spot from a practicality perspective and aesthetic perspective.

If you can get the Snoopy now, do it. I'm trying and it's proving to be more challenging than I thought procuring an Omega would be. That being said, it's pretty awesome looking and already includes the new cal 3861. So, you're already ahead of the standard Speedmaster game in more ways than one. |

Yes, very much so as a true collector generally does diversify. The REAL question is, are you going to follow the sheeple or chart your own path? If you're thinking the typical low-end PP and AP, then we know what camp you're in and join all the other followers. If, on the other hand, you choose other brands such as Panerai, Omega, IWC, Tag Heuer, Bvlgari, FPJ, Ming... odds are you're wised up and are on a path of YOUR choosing.
So, which path are YOU choosing is the real question.

If it were me, I'd go for the Omega Snoopy and one of the 2 remaining Rolexes, either the Sub or the GMT. Even though I like the newer 126 references more 116 references, you already have a Hulk so perhaps the GMT makes more sense? Price point wise, the Snoopy and Sub 124060 are in the same relative ballpark.
Or get all 3 and decide. I know you don't plan on selling any, but I could see the sub taking over the explorer's place. Both great, black dialed go anywhere, do anything watches. |

I think you will see collectors looking for high end independent watch makers who make limited edition pieces.

I think the new snoopy is so much more interesting than the new Sub. You already have a great sub, you should pair it with a great chrono.

If you like Rolex, you will probably like Omega as well. The two brands are similar in many ways.

It looks like you have some great Rolexes in the collection already, so I'd consider trying a new brand. The Snoopy is an awesome watch and would be fun to own and wear.

Should I consider other watch brands?
Trinity is always a good alternative option. Maybe a microbrand like FP? My Moser is my favorite piece.

Cheers mate, the FPJ octas titanium has been my dream watch since I saw it in the FPJ boutique. It seems like they have sold out and the only way to obtain one is through secondary market which I’m not familiar with.

Why not buy both, and then sell the one that doesn't make you happy? You can decide once you've had some time with either.

Thank you guys. Your advices are really helpful. I might not be that overwhelmed with the omega in the first place, so I decided to follow my heart and wait the calls from Rolex AD.

Breitling whored out the Bentley partnership way too much for a while, and the new digital stuff is a joke IMO. Ti Superocean is cool! Or if you don’t mine HUGE, the emergency mission (on a leather strap) is awesome. Feeling a little funky, Panerai made some bronze watches that patina to be absolutely gorgeous. Bronze 1950 is stunning. |

There's nothing wrong with picking one brand and focusing on it exclusively. And, there's nothing wrong with exploring an array of brands, or perhaps concentrating on one or two brands.
Omega is a fine brand with a rich history. If you find a watch from Omega that really grabs you, then, by all means, go for it. However, don't "settle"...don't buy an Omega just because you have the urge to buy a watch but can't get the one you really want. If you really prefer Rolex, then stay on that path, despite the current issues that make getting certain pieces challenging. |

If you like a watch from another brand, by all means, you should consider branching out. For me, personally, for whatever reason, there are very few specific watches in other brands that excite me. I have to push myself to like Patek, for example, since everyone and their grand mother says Patek is great, Patek is fantastic, etc. etc., but honestly, deep inside, I don't like them enough to even consider (never mind not being able to pay for them). There is a CH Premier Jewelers store locally here in the Bay Area, and they have almost all brands (except Rolex). I have been to their store many times and have seen a good selection of (Patek, Omega, GP, Hublot, Chopard, JLC, Breguete, Frank Muller, Panerai, Tag, etc. etc.), but honestly, there are only two Omegas that excite me (Planet Ocean, GSOTM), a couple of Panerais (blue dial), and almost all of the ALS which is way out of my price range at this time. I mean, I feel bad when I walk out of that place thinking I should be in love with half of those luxury brands that I just saw in there, or at least 10% of them... but nope, not me. I would gladly pick a blue dial DJ41 over that Panerai, or a Milgaus over that Omega... you get the point. I get more excited about a good number of low to mid-range watches (say $200 to $1500 range) than I get about a majority of higher end non-rolex watches ($5k+). Go figure.

If you buy Omega, you will lose a lot when you sell. Rolex retains value and sometimes increase with time.
Get the Snoopy if you have no intention of selling. My two cents worth...

Always thought the Snoopy was a bit pricey for what it was.
