I personally don't want to see any Rolex watch move up to 41mm. But it seems that is the future. First the Datejust, then the Sub and OP... I'm very surprised the new Explorer didn't get the 41mm case (or at least the option).
I thought 39mm OP and Explorer were perfect, in fact, I'd like to see the Sub at 39mm like the BB58. That would be the perfect size for my wrist. |

To me 40 and 41mm are about the same.
I will agree with others that the 39mm explorer is a great size, and I also don’t understand why Rolex went back down to the 36mm on this one??? |

Here’s what I’d do: keep the sub for when home, add either Tudor gmt or yema Superman gmt for travel. Then just forget about the imaginary perfect Rolex, enjoy the corvette and await the next Tumi sale.

The perfect rolex does not exist yet. It would be the following:
Take the current YM1. Put a ceramic bezel on it. Give it a glidelock but somehow keep clasp the same size. Make it a black sub no date. Can't think of anything better! |

Try a new black Explorerll or a Tudor Gmt. You could be waiting forever for a 41mm Gmt from Rolex.

Hmmm. I’m not entirely sure a 41mm GMT is necessary.
40mm is the sweet spot I think, but I’m sure if one were to be released every one would be all over it in a heartbeat. Personally I’d rather see Rolex release a ‘heritage’ line of references for the golden oldies like the Sub and the GMT. Obviously you’d never be able to acquire one without donating a lung or some other body part. They’d sell more of those over and above anything else they could come up with just by adding 1mm to the case. |
