Glad you're getting better! I've been lucky so far. I'd buy a Submariner(no date), and maybe look at the older 5-digit ones. They really are classic and so comfortable. Personally I'd avoid buying IWC, certainly not new as I think they're over-priced for what they are. Just my 5 cents here!

I've been fortunate not to get severely ill over the past two years, but one never knows what's around the corner. Which is why instead of a new Rolex, I have a new BMW on order. It comes with a clock, so I've got that covered.

A sub would look way too similar to the BLNR Oyster that you have imo, so pass for me on that. I would go for a datejust if you want to stick to Rolex.

If you are going outside of Rolex, I think a JLC would be great. If you are stuck on IWC, then go for it, but would push for a reasonable discount.

I’m really leaning towards a DateJust 36. Wearing my Explorer (39) this evening and think I might love the classic size. And there’s still nothing subtle about a fluted/jubilee model.
