I don't know what to say. Shocking doesn't even start to cover it. Eeerm..., I personally find it very worrying for the hobby.

Doesn’t mean they’re getting it. I have been tracking certain watches out there for a couple years. One guy was looking for $55k+ for a 116509 silver racing dial 2 years ago. I called and made a reasonable offer but was rejected. Now it still hasn’t sold and IIRC he’s now looking for $90k.

If it is worth it to someone, more power to them. That said, I don't think I could spend that kind of money on a watch regardless of what my financial situation looked like or regardless of how nice the watch was.

That's a ploy to generate clicks and make a few contacts where they say the price was a typo, and start pitching

They are using stock photos, nobody will buy but maybe they will click on their page and go through their regular inventory.

Lots of games going on these days, just try messaging a seller on C24 that seems like a decent deal.... many times they tell you it just sold, but can locate another...

It’s a 116508 -015 Meteorite dial which retails at $42K. Why someone would want to pay 8 times is just beyond me!

Even the full 18K Daytona’s are for $52-55K. Which means the remaining $180K is for the meriorite dial!

If this ask actually gets recognized and someone pays it, we are in the midst of a massive bubble. Totally artificial.

Meh... thats nothing.

Tesla stock was $50 four years ago and it trades close to $1,000 now.
So $25K worth of Tesla purchased four years ago would be half a million dollars now.

We only have ourselves to blame for this fiasco. If people weren't stupid enough to pay these types of prices, folks wouldn't be selling them. Simple as that. Someone, somewhere is paying ridiculous prices for a Rolex. Thus, keeping the cycle going skyward. Personally, I detest the third party dealers; opportunists and con artists (some).

A fairly well known UK grey today posted a yellow gold meteorite dial on oysterflex today for sale. £160k gone within a matter of hours if not less

It's happening all around us. Just look at all the relatively mundane "classic" cars that brought huge prices at the latest Barrett Jackson event.

I don't really see an end. The fact is there are many out there with more money than they have any use for. If you are 60 years old and sitting on 75 million dollars you aren't Jeff Bezos, but why not buy a classic Porsche and a few watches? And whether it takes $1 million or $2 million to take the car you want home is really of little consequence.

Lots of money chasing not a lot of watches, cars and real estate. I can't play in that game any more than I could play in the NBA.

There are people out there who make 300k in a day. This is like buying bag of chestnuts on 5th ave. for them.
