Me too!!

Even 20 years ago I had an IWC Doppelchronograph that was worth £3000 more than the old Volvo I drove!

Lets see some refreshing REVERSE FLEX pictures of your car and watch!

A not necessarily wise man once told me:

“Never fall in love with sheet metal.”

For some reason that really hit home and from that day forward lost all interest in obsessing over card that are merely created to get you around hopefully in a safe and comfortable manner.

That said, I have fallen in love with my stainless steel timepiece

My car is cheaper than a lot of things. Cars do that, with some exceptions. Watches also do that, with some exceptions.

No, I really like my big boy toys but I have a few that are beaters that my wife uses for work. I can go from a $160k vehicle to a $5k vehicle in my fleet of vehicles. I catch my self laughing when I see what watch I am wearing and then get out of a $5k Jeep.

It is true that my vehicles have appreciated the last two years. Dealer already bought one of my fun cars that was 2 yrs old only because they gave me a offer I couldn’t refuse. My high end vehicle has appreciated about $18k and my dealer still bends my ear if I want to sell it but then I couldn’t replace it with another as you can’t buy a “fully optioned” luxury vehicle with the parts shortages. Vehicles at the very top tier are so compromised with lack of options due to parts shortages that may last past 2024.

My car is definitely cheaper to each Rolex i own.
Even my 1601 is worth more Lol

I hate cars. Money pits and typically (but not always) one of the worse investments to make.
You buy a car overpriced by a dealer. Soon as you drive off the lot it depreciates in value.
As you drive it and place more miles on, it continues to depreciate.
Now you add more money into it, in order to maintain the car. Add fuel to run it, which also pulls money out of your wallet. taxes, inspections, license, insurance and repairs.
All the time, it is depreciating.

True in theory, but high-end cars are a very sound investments currently, most clebs and multi and billionaires are heavy investing in cars as a safe investment. I paid $28k for this pre-owned its a 1997 and the average selling price is around $82K, I am treating it like a watch as I don't drive it and it is stored and covered. Once the average sell price averages $100k I plan to sell

Absolutely! I split my daily driving between a 21 year old Honda Accord and a 27 year old Mercury Sable. They belonged respectively to my mother and late grandmother and I paid a total of $2,500 for both of them.

Cars were expensive before the current insanity, and it's far worse now. Having little to no car expense is one of the keys that unlocks a "Rolex Friendly" budget for me.

I'm also a moderately curmudgeonly bastard and all the tech they cram into new cars doesn't really interest me. I just need reliability, air conditioning, and a radio. My cars are simple, they run great, and I can even handle some of the wrenching myself.

Whales be whaling though, so for some they might as well drive a very nice car. If you're truly rolling in it, why not?

Yes. I still have my 1999 Saab 9-3 convertible that I got practically brand new when my other Saab 9-3 lease was up. It's my summer weekend fun car and I only put a couple thousand miles on it a year. I think I've got 94k miles on it now. In 2020 I sold my other Saab, which was a 2000 9-5 Aero wagon. I could have easily gotten double for it if I had waited until last year to sell it.

With the used car prices being so insane I'm super tempted to jettison my convertible while I still could get a lot of money for it. I don't though because it is a 5 speed manual and it is still fun to drive. I always wanted a Saab convertible back in college, so it felt great when I finally got one.

I even have all of the original 1999 dealer sales brochures and catalogs from that year. I could sell it as a full set. Box and papers bro!

The whole watch collection is worth way less than the whole vehicle stable. I do have watches worth more than the cheapest vehicle.

If my car keeps depreciating and my watch keeps increasing in value, it won’t take long…

Yes, bought my Sub in 2013 for $5K. I purchased my 2014 Toyota Camry new for $24K. Now the Sub is worth about $10K and the car is worth about $8K.

Used to. I picked up this beater truck in 2009 for around $2500 and have been driving it around since.

However, during the past decade, I've been slowly fixing it up. I've probably dumped around $20k into it during that period of time. This is what it looks like now:

I got it appraised in January. The appraiser said its worth around $28k now.

not when I bought it but now with the crazy prices for steel sports models and the serious depreciation of my car yes.

And cars right now are nuts, I saw an ad for a Toyota Rav 4 with a 40K dealer markup on it, would rather spend that on a watch any day of the week

That's a real beauty you got there. I love shows where they restore cars, especially Rust Valley Restorers, that keep them fairly stock and affordable.

My daily driver is a 2007 4Runner with 212k miles, so yes. I may buy a new one this year so that would change, for now.

My 2016 Corolla S cost $20k new and they are now selling for around $17k. I paid $13k for my c. 2000 16710 GMT II a couple of years ago, so my car is a little more expensive.
