I hope you are able to get the Batman!
I am still pretty shocked that most prefer on oyster. I must be in the minority who love it on jubilee. I find that the jubilee just adds that extra pop of wrist presence, shows scratches less, and just compliments a collection better when subs, daytonas, yachtmasters, exploere 2s, OPs are all on oyster. |

i turned down a black dial daytona for blnr, they both arrived within 3 months of me asking (this was in 2019). after seeing the price disparity now i am going rope shopping
blnr is a little more ubiquitous than blro so you may have a good chance of getting one honestly. |

No need for much of a journey. There are 2 or 3 VERY legitimate grey dealers in the UK you can pick up same day a brand new specimen of that very available watch.

Yuuuk. It’s just such a hideous term. You’ve definitely been sat down by some self righteous, corny, AD who’s had you holding on to his every word. Anyway, good luck with that! |

Update.
Thanks for all the positive messages and luck sent my way, I appreciate the naysayers too, the grey market is a no go because I refuse to pay a penny over retail- I am hustling myself by doing that. I booked an appointment and got a confirmation call, went down to see them. My SA was a young woman, she began by telling me how in demand the model was and how it has shot up in popularity over the last few years..then she hit me with it. All high demand Rolex models cannot be sold or registered for new customers with no Rolex purchase history. I argued my case that buying a watch to facilitate the one I want does not make financial or aesthetic sense as the ones I have interest in will be high demand. She advised that by listing or obtaining the watch for me she would lose her job. She then proceeded to advise me that some options to start my journey would be the Explorer, Air King and Sub Bluezy. We spoke about flippers, she openly admitted that a lot of people buy watches and flip just to reach their desired watch, appreciated that this was not my method. I was surprised by the offer of the bluezy and did consider it at first but then looking at the difference of 3.5k from my desired watch, I advised her I will think about it. She encouraged me to look at the range and handed my a brochure, packaged in a bag and I with a bow which was rather funny, really wanted me to feel wanted. I am considering my options now going forward, I do like the Sub but I would be listing just so I can facilitate the Batman. A good friend of mine said, embrace the phrase ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ list for the bluezy and then flip that when it comes and await the Batman with a small profit and a step closer to my goal. I feel conflicted as I do not want to fuel the market which has facilitated extortionate prices, at the same time if the only way to get my model is to get another one, then by selling that model I can facilitate my listing and purchase. Open to any suggestions and advice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Even in buying another watch you don't want you're never guaranteed the one you really want. Tough time to be a first time buyer. Good luck on the hunt!

If you want a Batman as a one and done, go grey market. Less hassle and much much quicker. |

I reckon you went to a WOS group shop as the comments you posted are exactly what they all say of pat, heard it just yesterday almost verbatim.
I’d also advise against flipping as they have told me the do have a team looking at used watches and if you are found as a flipper they will not sell you another watch. Good luck though. Try a smaller independent AD you might have more lucky but unlikely. |

They sell to a ton of flippers and to get caught you literally have to post pictures with warranty card or the serial visible in the rehaut on Chrono or EBay. Flipped a watch bought from WOS last year - no angry emails yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Well, welcome, first of all. The issue in general is finding inventory available at list price. You used to be able to walk into an AD, try on several models, make your selection and haggle a bit over the price.
Now, as you will read on multiple threads, demand has skewed the entire engagement model and customer experience. Good luck on your journey, and again, welcome!

Welcome to the forums AND to the Rolex journey!
I started my journey on October 22, 2018 to be specific. The morning after our wedding before we boarded our flight for our honeymoon. Called around to multiple Rolex ADs looking for an Explorer 217270. I didn't know they were hard to get as I had been tunnelvisioned OMEGA my whole life. Unfortunately was chuckled at by most stores except one - Longs Jewelers in Peabody, MA. Matthew Bailly was the Sales Rep that day and he told me when one came in he'd give me a call. At that time, we had given up and started to finish packing our suitcases when an hour or so later Matt called me back to tell me one had come in. We immediately drove down and picked it up - this had me hooked. Over the next two years I waffled over a Sub no date. Was even offered one in late 2019 by Matthew in Peabody but couldn't bring myself to do it. Fast forward to last year, May 2021 Matt now manages the beautiful Rolex boutique on Newbury St for Longs. My wife and I set up a visit a month or two in advance and to my surprise, he had a new 2020 Sub no date model waiting for me. I now have these two in my collection and have voiced my desire for a GMT 2 Batman as well. Hoping I am on a list and will wait however long is needed. Best of luck!

It should be called a joke, instead of journey, because that's what it is.
There is a 1% chance of you acquiring a new BLNR from a dealer without spending an exorbitant amount of money on other brands, probably over £25,000, and the wait list at most dealers is fictitious with no spending history, or no portfolio as they like to call it. That is why many just swallow their pride and buy one at the market rate. The dealer route only makes sense if you're going to buy all of the other things anyways and want a few hot Rolex models. I posted my Rolex joke in the Rolex section of the forum if you want to read it and I chose the dealer route because I will buy a few more watches, and make those purchases work towards more Rolex. I just want to pace myself, not overdo it, and not get bored with Rolex in a short period. |

OP, first, welcome to the Rolex Universe, and I wish you the best of luck in acquiring your Batman. It is very true, the road will be long and a difficult one, and finding one (right now anyway) at MSRP is a definitely a long shot, but things like this do happen. Keep checking with ADs around you, see if there are other options in the road to obtaining one, and most of all enjoy the chase. Welcome |

The Rolex corporation says that the start of everyone’s Rolex Journey begins with asking TRF for inspiration…. so you’re on the right track.
