Surprisingly, my ad uses the nick names more than anything else. Some of the staff know the reference numbers but all use the nick names.

Does Rolex train their ADs on their website search results?

Odd that "kermit" generated so many results

Wow. I had no idea that the search bar on the Rolex website recognizes slang.

Some of them do. Like kermit or pepsi. I dont care. Makes it easier for both of us to say. If they referred to rolexes by ref numbers i would tell them to stop. That would be annoying and corny to me.

I have heard the nicknames when dealing with long term customers and collectors.

I was shopping at a non-Rolex AD once and the salesman said "Nice Batman." I didn't know what he was talking about for a few moments, and then I mumbled something like "thanks for making my $10,000 watch feel like a cartoon".

I keed. But it sounded stupid, and I rarely say names like that out loud although I may have typed it here once or twice.

As noted by others, my Rolex AD SA is a salesman and he will do or say whatever it takes to make me like him and buy stuff.

Your experience?
I was in an AD recently and there was grown man throwing a tantrum in front of the SA because he felt absolutely entitled to get a Rolex

I asked the SA I was speaking to if they deal with that a lot and he said “unfortunately yes we do”

I guarantee you they would prefer to have pleasant conversations that involve the word Smurf and Hulk over dealing with adult tantrums

Does that mean Rolex does not respect themselves if they use the nicknames in their own search function?

Same for me.

Even "Bluesy"?

I don't get my knickers in a twist over the nicknames. If Rolex themselves acknowledge the nicknames I don't see why I should get anxiety over it personally. 90% of them are cringeworthy (none more so than "Bluesy") but Pepsi, Coke, Fat Lady, Panda ..... these ones are pretty well-established and it would be incredibly petty to ignore them and start bandying around 10 digit reference numbers just to sound like a true WIS.

When I got a root beer a few years ago, the email read "Root Beer Ready"

It is all good, why not use the lingo the end users use

The AD that I am on the list at specifically referred to the LV as the Starbucks when I inquired. I believe he is the owner of the AD

My AD's slang for watches has changed a bit lately.

They used to call them Pepsi's and Batman's, but now they refer to them as "No" and "Unavailable".
