I daily’ed a black dial 116520 from ‘04-‘08, I’ve now had my black 116500 since 2019 and wore it today. I prefer the look of the ceramic bezel, it’s as simple as that to me.

Thanks! They surely look grey on women but I wouldn’t say at all they look feminine!

I own the 500 in black, and love it. Though I also like the 520. The ss bezel gets scratched really easily so, since I wear my watches often, I would buy a used one if I wanted one, just so I didn’t have to worry about that !

16520>116500>116520
But I wouldn't pay an extra 8k for the 116500.

I prefer the 520 regardless of price, but there is way more hype for the 500.
But then, 8K more for same condition is hard to justify.

Of course the 116520, the original, the first Daytona with manufacture caliber inside. Ceramics is the restyling. Obviously it’s the most loved watch by the gray market, because there are too many and all new never worn. I conclude: 116520 new old stock are rare ( chromalight near 80k ) and cost twice as much as ceramics. Ask yourself why…

116500 for me, scratches on the bezel would drive me nuts.

16520 is the best of the bunch IMO. Of the two you are debating the 500 gets my vote. No wrong answers - all very nice watches.

If you can find a good condition 116520, go for it. The black was always more popular in the 116520 and is the least popular in the 116500.
Plus I just think the 116520 looks better

116520 vs 116500

500 for me, and the aesthetics are worth the price gap. That’s just me. I’d also be wishing I’d gone the extra mile had I bought the 520.

I would go for the 520. already now a classic, can’t imagine 10 years in the future.

I kinda wanted a daytona when it was the 116520. Had seen a few used examples and they all had some degree of bezel wear (and i didnt like it). And I never purchased one. The day the 116500 was announced I called my AD and got on the list. Very happy with my 116500.
