Who bothers to try and impress a bunch of internet strangers with a made up story? I just don't get it. Time to ban and close the thread.

The AD would have had to have paid Rolex UK for it. No business sits on an extremely expensive (at cost to them) stock item for 3 years that they can sell 10 times over.

And that's before we consider that you've posted pictures of 2 different watches.

Just as a point of interest, the OP has used two different image hosts for the picture of the platinum Daytona and the Rainbow Daytona. And the exif data has been completely stripped from both images.

Call my cynical but....
Have to agree sounds like fantasy island post like many on forum lately, or just simply like below.

OP hasn't been back since posting the thread, so we'll wait to see what, if anything, he has to say. Should be entertaining.

on this i must contradict you, i am aware of a dealer who has a rainbow in the safe which hasn't been whown out to customers, Dealer might just keep for their own collection, i have personally seen the watch so not making up the story!

Afterall it's their money, they do what they want with their watches, sell it, gift it, keep it...

Two different Rainbows, and he's from the UK but apparently has a Bentley with a Km/h speedometer?

What a very sad post.

what do you get from lying to 99.9% of people on an internet forum that you'll never meet or cross paths in this life or the next? what clout does someone actually get from a forum/message board. This is so cringe and weird.

He probably did a dial change on the watch in the Bentley on way home to his enormous mansion and model wife!

Maybe he then had to jet off to some conflict zone for some real hero type stuff and why he hasn’t revisited the thread. Or maybe his mom just took away his internet.

My guess is OP wanted to bring us a Can You Spot it game for the holiday fun!

I am very impressed by the expertise in this forum; took me several close looks to spot all the differences between the two watches. And spotting the km/h on the speedometer of the Bentley is even more impressive, stellar detective work!

Interesting fact I heard from an AD SA (which may or may not be true). On the SS Daytona the main chronograph hand is steel not the usual white gold. Apparently 18ct gold might bend on the reset swing.

It’s possible that the white and yellow rbow pieces also had painted steel chronograph hands and maybe the Everose metal is a bit harder and could tolerate the accelerations better - hence the Everose chronograph hands.

I’m guessing
Your AD is correct that the chronograph seconds hand isn't white gold, but its not steel. That, and the seconds hand on the YM2, are made of beryllium (or a beryllium alloy most likely coloured gold or everose)

Point accepted.

There are, however, very few independent Rolex ADs in the UK and even less (if any) that would likely receive a Rainbow Daytona in their allocation.

It's likely some weirdo with no friends sitting in a basement or a scammer hoping someone PM's him offering to buy one of his rare pieces.
