It’s an absolute certainty that you will not get if you don’t ask. Go ask. Just be reasonable about timelines.

I always take a couple months off from talking about the next watch after acquiring one. But I also keep a 3 or 4 watch wishlist constantly with my AD.

Just politely ask for a Daytona, in person and have a conversation with the SA. You are the customer and just bought and expensive watch. Stop overthinking it and playing games. If you do not ask, you will not receive.

You reached the grail watch--why step down to a Daytona?!

It’s actually the perfect time to ask. There’s no science to it so don’t overthink it. There’s no time like the present! Congrats on a great pick up too.

Why wouldn't you ask? They are selling an item that you would like to purchase. Your money spends just the same as any other money right?

Spacing or timing requests minimizes the chances an AD will think you're a flipper, or so the thinking goes.

In theory, this is correct. But we know that’s not the case in real life.

If you got the BLRO, the SA likely went to bat for you with management. Seems kinda gauche to ask again before you even leave the shop. Why not just inquire on the next visit? Or text the guy in the next month or two?

Totally agree

If I was the SA, I’d be doing internal eye-rolls if I was hit up for another high demand watch on the same day I delivered one.

I got my blro in 2022 - ive been on “the list” since 2017 for a white daytona

I was told last year i would get one in the next 10 years - given they get 2 a year

Nothing wrong with expressing your interest - ask the question. Enjoy the pepsi, it’s all I wear now day. I have a black sub date, dj41 blue dial, hulk and a OP tiff

Don’t ask. Tell.

Tell that AD you’ll be along to collect the Daytona next month or you’ll tile his bathroom.

Congrats are in order on the new BLRO!!

Lol at people saying don’t ask. Your AD will likely ask you “what’s next?” when you pick up the BLRO and if they don’t you should say you’d like to be considered for a Daytona. Every time I’ve got something from my AD I let them know what’s next and they’ve come through each time (4 out of 4 so far).

Too early to ask for a daytona?

For the record, the “don’t ask” people are simply saying don’t ask on the day of delivery. No one is saying never to ask.

Personally, I think it’s poor manners to ask for another high-demand watch on the same day your SA delivers a high-demand watch. Less applicable if we are talking about 36mm TT DJs. But Pepsi’s and Daytonas?!? No way.

Also, it’s worth mentioning, my SA always has at least 3 watches on my wishlist so it’s not like they don’t know what else I want. I choose to give them a break from my “wants” on a delivery day. Instead I choose to express gratitude and appreciation.

I am in the same boat as you. I'm in the don't ask camp, at least for now.

I picked up my BLRO from my AD last October and shortly after asked if its a good time to talk about my next piece. My SA said that my daughter would have a better chance than me to get the next piece, she is 12 years old. Needless to say I will be sending her in soon to ask for my daytona..LOL..

Seriously, I think like others have said your SA/AD has given you a very hard piece (especially in Canada) and you should enjoy it before you want the next. It could come off as not being appreciative or greedy if you ask right away.

Enjoy and ask in 6 months to a year. This will not delay you getting one anyways as it's probably years away unless you have an exceptional relationship.

There’s no harm in asking, go for it and see what it results to.

It’s a store, walk in and ask if they can get one for you. Don’t overthink it. Just wear your previous watch proudly when you walk in.

I had both on my initial request to my AD, along with a few other sport watches. Once I received the Pepsi (without any additional spend), I removed the others, except for two Daytonas, of which I'll take which ever one comes in first. So, yes, I'd ask to be considered for whatever watch(es) you want right off the bat, as long as you plan to buy when you get the call. I wish you well.

I'd ask, but probably would wait a bit of time. Would go back in and explain how much you're enjoying the watch and then mention that the Daytona is the next watch you've been after and why.

I asked my AD for a Daytona and I've only serviced with them before. I asked them to be honest and if it was not going to happen, just tell me. But one of their head people said it is absolutely possible, just will take time, probably three or more years they said. But I explained my passion for motorsport and watches. I think that helped. In the meantime I have the option to either go and buy a gray market 116520 and enjoy that and sell if/when a Daytona comes in at my AD, or if it's 5 years with no Daytona from my AD, I can buy gray too.

Go buy it on the secondary. If you ever get the call, you can sell one of them and break even or come out ahead. And go on living your life instead of cucking your AD.

Give it some time. The BLRO is significantly easier to score than a ss Daytona. The ss Daytona is next level and the most guarded so when you do ask, its gonna take time and some continuous spending money on other stuff to be considered.

Agree. This has been my experience at least but of course YMMV.
