Yep this is exactly the point. They look at the word bubble and then make videos based on what's popular rather than starting at what I'm interesting in talking about.

Hence virality. It's not a good source of information but can be a good place to be entertained.

They are simply commenting on online rumors. Just like we do, but on video.

This demonstrates the problem with AI and algorithms.

People put content on YouTube in the early day’s.
1 person uploads a video with sensationalist content and titles
Gets more engagement
Makes more money
Tries another similar video
Same thing happens
More people notice
Eventually the new bar is set
In order to get your videos seen at all you need to produce sensationalist dross
Meanwhile people are chasing after a new high with more extreme content

Content is stuck in a feedback loop where quality suffers greatly. All because extreme content is affecting the stats informing the algorithm of what content gets more views and engagement. These algorithms have no quality measurements or moral assessments. They feed off engagement which is often highest on divisive content.

The last time I saw something watch related that was really compelling was something by John Reardon or perhaps the Phillips mini series stuff

Watch the movie The Beanie Bubble (2023).

Would not be surprised if they are pressing pause on the models so the secondary market doesn’t collapse and kill their brand.

I heard from a friends cousins sisters boyfriend that the new factory Rolex is making is going to be dedicated to nothing but Pepsi bezels. Should dump your Pepsis now.

Allegedly the AD in my area hasn't received a BLRO since February.
I also have the suspicion the case will move to 41mm, like the sub and sub date. Perhaps Rolex is getting the remaining 40mm cases through the pipeline before releasing a 41mm case.

I keep seeing people calling for this on the forum. FWIW, I would like for them to slim the lugs down similar to the new sub proportions, but I don't think it is happening anytime soon.

Just released the GRNRs this year and VTNR last year in the current 40mm case. I think they are happy with GMT proportions for now or they would not have spent the money on R&D for those watches only to manufacture them for a year or two before having to make modifications to the production process for a new case. Just my opinion.

Christian is actually a nice guy and he himself will say he is not an expert in modern rolex. I enjoy their videos and like the fact that he wears what he loves and doesn't care what people think. A lot of followers in this youtube space it's nice to have a guy who's sipping a cocktail now and then and enjoying watches he personally loves.

I listened to this video and found it was just them discussing how they think it's possible but likely a rumor. They talked about several angles. I love how many here have rude comments about someone that they would not say to his face and probably didn't watch the video. PS you'd probably have a great conversation with him if you ever chatted.

Agreed. These guys are real watch guys--not hypebeasts. There have been rumors all year that Pepsi production has been way down. They are just commenting on those rumors, which many ADs have stoked.

glad i'm not alone in thinking this. these 2 are vintage guys and actual watch lovers and they're getting a lot of hate for no reason just because it's on youtube, but they have a lot of cool content and discussion that's different from the usual stuff you see out there

they have nothing to gain with this video and they're not holding the bag everyone claims they are. their entire shop is vintage stuff most on here wouldn't look twice at

then again we're on a website where people make fun of Paul Thorpe's accent while somehow priding ourselves in being better than reddit

Perhaps some have a problem with their obvious Click Bait title to their video, which to me seems very amateurish. If they had a good following, then there's no need to click bait.

Perhaps fanboys of theirs could kindly suggest to them to have more appropriate titles for their videos.

PS: From TRF posts, it looks like a normal flow. GREAT news as my buddy in Canada just got his Pepsi Meoterite

I can't seem to find the instagram account of what may have been his biggest hater. It was really entertaining. If I recall correctly, it was called something like "Theo and Embarrass" and they would often find the listing from a forum member somewhere where they bought the watch and then would list it for an exorbitant profit, all while putting a huge upsell on the condition. I think the biggest thing was them describing rust as a desirable patina to budding enthusiasts who didn't know any better.

His reviews seem to be a super mixed bag. I used to watch him on YouTube when I was starting to get into higher end watches, and I quickly fell out of favor about his content.

I was told by my AD a few months ago that Pepsi production “could potentially” slow down. I remember not giving it much credence at the time. But Rolex is Rolex, you never know what you’re gonna get.

A local AD manager told me about a month ago Rolex was having trouble with this model. I didn't care - it's been brought up to a point that makes it have some level of believability.

In there defense this topic of the the Pepsi being cut or fully cancelled is all over YouTube the past few weeks. It’s a theme, so i guess they just decided to kick around the likelihood of this happening. I think they conclude by doubting the rumors.

I actually like these guys, they are interesting to listen to, they are funny and I think they just share their opinion on various watches and watch related topics.
They do commercials for thrir sponsor and their shop / patreon… that is fair enough.
But the videos seem genuine. 2 watch geeks (like us but) talking about watches.

Regarding the Pepsi production numbers, there is a thread here where these theories are beeing debated :)
Who knows… my AD just says they do not get many.

I haven't watched the video, but it's unfortunately true that Rolex is not happy with the production of the BLRO Bezel. For 6 years the colors have varied between more or less violet and pink - calls it MK I-IVff, but to date the colors are not clearly red and blue. The transitions are diffuse, completely different to the BLNR. According to Rolex quality standards, many of these BLRO bezels are unusable. Rolex is unhappy with the 126710 BLRO, I'm sure! And not because of demand, but because of their own, self-imposed quality criteria -the demand for perfection
