To be frank, it was on my list bc it's a new reference and I had never seen or tried it on. My AD happily put me on the list for one and I was allocated it. Lucky me I guess.

I'd get the white dial (of either one first), then later a black dial (of one or the other).

I’ll say what no one else wants to say and what you don’t want to hear.
There is no flipping value or safety net in the PM Daytona. You’ll lose money if you try and liquidate it anytime in the next 5 years. It is, however, a beautiful watch though, and one I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up if I had the funds for it. |

The watch is beautiful and since you like it enough to be one of your choices, then I suggest you go for it.

If you can afford the ~40k price tag without sacrifices, yes buy it

Make sure you try it on first. I had a chance to buy one at retail and passed. I found it dull on the wrist. The sub-dials are too gray for me. Still a very nice timepiece, of course, but there was something lacking, especially at this price point.
Also, this soon will be available on the secondary market close to retail anyway. Full white gold Daytonas are usually not a good choice for watch lovers who like to sell/trade a lot. |

This was the exact reason I almost passed on it. Still came around to buying it, but I love the watch. It has a wow factor to it when outside.

I think from the OP, its more like should they wait until the Panda, or buy this. I think if you buy it from your allocation at the AD, you are not likely going to be allocated with the Panda anytime soon.
If money is not the issue between the two watch then I think it really depends if your AD is going to allocate you the Panda sometime in the future. Panda is still very hard to get allocated for most people, so it depends on your relationship with the AD. If you are a like most of us, probably would never get allocated a Panda, then go ahead and buy your second choice watch. At the end, getting at an AD at retail for a WG daytona is not going to cost you too much more than a grey market SS Panda. For me, have a bit of relationship with an AD will not believe I will get allocated a Panda ever, as I am not VIP enough. I am glad my AD tells me this, as he wants me to spent on jewellery for Panda allocation, which I am not willing to spend on. I got allocated a YG OF Paul Newman dial about 1 year ago, before the new model and before the price increase, so that was a bit of a net savings in the end. I still wanted a Panda, but I am very very content with the YG OF Paul Newman as I am not interested to spend on stuff that I don't want. |

Been a while since I checked the forum. I let it marinate and couldn't sleep so I went in and purchased it. Love the weight and look. Glad I didn't pass on it. Since my #2 slot was now purchased, I asked for a GMT Meteorite hahah! We shall see...

This WG Daytona look very good. If I don't have any Daytona before, I would go for it.
If you don't love it, don't buy and wait for the one that you're waiting for.

I wouldn’t. Had the blue dial version and find it mostly un readable. My husband didn’t want it. I tried it for a few weeks. I need to be able to time things and couldn’t with this. It’s also smallish, that was ok for my small wrist but could be an issue for you. Daytona is a very over rated watch. IMO.

So did you purchase the WG Daytona? Curios to how this story ends. Thank you.

I have the ghost dial version, and love it. Kind of a stealth watch, not overly flashy....
