That's down the road, but on my radar, a DD. They are much more due to the precious metal content and configuration options.

So these are OK, but a MOP dial isn't to go along with the diamonds?? Too "Flashy"?? This version is MILD compared to other FACTORY options available or going down the "Iced out" road. Mine will stay factory for the value and rarity. A lux model for the collection. Who knows where it will end up in my family or with my grandkids, but I'm sure it will be well-liked and admired well after I have passed this Earth to the Dark Side of the Moon. https://www.exquisitetimepieces.com/...ced-out-rolex/

This thread reminds me why, after years of wearing Rolex, I now wear a Blancpain FF.

No Jaeger (JLC)? I like their Master Ultra-Thin and their watchmaking history.

Interesting history with Blancpain and Jaeger - thanks for a new brand name to research. https://www.roroos.com/blog/jaeger-l...you-like-best/

Love to see a side by side of your Sub and the new DJ.
I tend to wear leather strapped watches(PP or a 36mm fluted 14k DJ when getting dressed up. However, since that’s rare, they don’t see much light.

I will post a side-by-side shot once received. This is my Full set, 2020 "Bluesy" 116613LB, the last year of the white letters on the dial with that ref #. I prefer the Blue Sub vs the Black.

Congrats OP!

It’s funny to me; whenever someone posts “should I buy this panda Daytona or a 36mm DD?” everyone universally says “buy what you like” and “buy what you want to wear; screw the hype.”

Here’s a guy buying exactly what he wants, and because it’s maybe not the most popular DJ configuration for a man he’s getting a hard time from some over it. I get it’s a watch forum and the point is to share opinions, whether dissenting or in favor, but I for one am stoked for the OP! Not because it’s a watch I’d personally wear or buy based on my style, but because he’s truly enjoying the hobby and buying what makes him smile, resale value and hype be damned.

Good on you OP!

I appreciate the support, I find the ones bashing this DJ version also are the ones that only love black-faced steel-only subs at sub $10K. Everyone has one! Maybe a cost issue? I have two daughters. I have flown in the F-16 and F-4 as a USAF Targeting Officer and was a NATO Intelligence Officer. Look at the MSRP vs the going rate on Chrono24 and Watch values. The ref # and configuration is more than exceeding its value. I have no intent to sell, and it will stay in my family, but I feel happy with some instant equity before even picking this up. I just like the look and flawless gems Rolex uses. TO ME ONLY, it's Rolex perfection and the finest, unique MOP version of a DJ they make. My manhood is intact. I have the proverbial MAN SUB "Bluesy", so I wanted a more refined DJ. WTF? FO! IDGAF!!

I will probably round out my Trifecta Rolex leather case roll collection with a solid gold Day Date Presidential with what I personally like vs what the Forum masses feel is a HOT watch...yet another black-face steel Rolex with some shit rubber band. I'm also considering the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Duo Tribute Chronograph in Black/Gold..... is that a "Man approved" complication at $40K?? https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/us-...graph-q389257j

That Reverso is cool! I’d maybe consider a RG DD since you have a couple YG TT pieces already (if sticking with Rolex for your 3rd). A Patek Calatrava could be a really cool add if going for something more formal as your third piece

Yes OP you are correct, we are only buying SS subs because of “cost issues” and “cost-entry point”, and secretly we aspire to one day have the resources to buy the “OG classic” TT sub or the “ultimate top of the food chain” MOP dial DJ with diamonds. I don’t think we quite understood the first 4 times when you mentioned the exorbitant price of this wonderful DJ but your 5th post about how the price is correlated with a watch’s superiority really drove it home for us. Your powers of deduction are extraordinary, I simply can’t let you waste them on this forum when Rolex could use the manliest CEO it’s ever seen, please show them how it’s done.

Thank you for the feedback. I need to see a rose gold on my wrist as I know it's the "NEW" metal - I'm an 80's man so Gordon Gecko comes to mind. LOL I really like that Reverso for the technology and Retro look, along with the history of the Maison Jaeger! The "Watchmakers Watch"

Yes, it seems to be a trend, you can't have any ulterior choices on here for your family, investment, or personal likes of how a watch looks or just admiring and appreciating flawless gem applications. You must also get your testosterone levels checked weekly before buying anything BUT a SS SUB. I prefer mine with GOLD.

The choice MUST be a SS Sub or 50 lashes and off to the dungeon!! There are many other horology choices in this hobby. I wonder why other Swiss watchmakers use the term Unisex??

Interesting thread. As a female, who prefers watches that guys wear, I’ve never gotten the kind of push back, that you are getting, on this incoming. I’ve never had my femininity challanged, over my choices of 39-42mm SS divers. In fact, I ‘ve had only positive feedback, on my choices. I wonder why it’s so different, for you, with this particular watch. As far as I’m concerned, your incoming DJ is a beautiful piece, period. OP, it is definitely not YOU, who needs his testosterone level checked….

Thank you Kat, I appreciate the understanding. I think it's a work of art, and a damn fine example from Rolex. Maybe because it has the word "Mother" in the name?? A different generation?? Personally, I will rock it at social functions, and appreciate the master craftsmen watchmakers that made it, the top-grade Tahitian MOP, as well as its D-G colorless, IF clarity diamonds.
