A bit disappointing I’d say being offered something you didn’t want especially when you have waited patiently for the call

Nice that you got the call! Awesome in fact! Too bad it wasn’t what you wanted. Hats off to you for not falling for the fomo and sticking to what you wanted!

I bet calling customers on Christmas Eve with off choice offerings is a common sales tactic for them knowing that we all might be a little trigger happy on this day believing/telling ourselves it's a Christmas so why not. Glad you didn't fall for that one.

If you don’t have a relationship or purchase history at that AD, you aren’t getting the blue or green dial no matter how long you asked for it.

You made a good choice and not take it. Big difference between the one that was offered and what you’re looking for.

The white gold Oysterflex is stunning on the wrist. Hate it in pictures but in real life it’s one of the best.

Best of luck for your desired SS. It will happen eventually

Well, your posting title wasn't lying I guess. Lol. I just didn't expect to read what had happened. Damn! What a let down! I guess you can't blame her for at least trying and offering it to you. She probably shouldn't have thrown in "Well....it's your lucky day".

WG Daytona on OF is a very nice piece! I personally like that one. You did the right thing though. Don't buy anything that you don't want. Hopefully one of her calls afterwards will make someone's day!

Huge cost difference for a watch you really did not want. Good move.

Right decision, I believe every AD in the world is trying to offload of Skydwelkers nowadays… pretty much available everywhere

They offered, you declined. I’d have done the same thing. For me, the Sky D in precious metal is too big, too heavy, and too expensive.

The way she offered makes it seem like it’s something the OP wanted which got his hopes up. She should have been way more upfront instead of a slimy used card salesman.

Oh man so close. Good for you to not compromise and wait for the one you want. The gold OF SkyD are clearly harder to sell. Were on open display and for sale in a Toronto AD about a week ago.

Christmas Eve call

I feel your disappointment as well. Tried on the blue dial SS past summer, of course it was not for sale,at least not to me. They did say the rose gold grey dial SS on oysterflex sitting in the case could be mine!
Lovely watch, tried it on for shits and giggles, but not the one I wanted.

ADs have maintained this faux scarcity. I assume it will eventually break as Rolex forces them to continue buying watches even if they have current stock. Certain SS models (i.e., GMT, Daytona, LV Sub) are still challenging, but the current stock in the back that doesn't sell will move into the showcases this year. Also, good move OP in holding out for what you want. You will eventually get it.
