Very poor decision making. A total set up.

I can’t add much to what’s already been said here. Obviously it’s safest to sell any item of high value through a dealer. If you sell privately, you have to take precautions.

Would you buy a watch from a private seller who wouldn't give you their address...even if you were meeting at the FBI headquarters to exchange? I wouldn't.

Why would anyone sell a Rolex or anything of that much value that way?

Face to face transactions can be done if you take precautions:

1) Get ID prior to meeting and connect name and ID to real life evidence like LinkedIn or a company website. FaceTime with person so you know that they look like their ID
2) Meet in a public place that has lots of cameras. Many police departments have specific areas for this that are meant for these transactions and they are monitored.
3) if it’s a cash transaction, consider going it in a bank and deposit the proceeds upon receipt. That way you can’t get robbed on the way out. If you’re receiving the watch you can use a safe deposit box.
I’ve seen hotel lobbies also suggested. You could transact and then retire to a room.

People that balk at these things usually are up to no good, or are so lax about security/lack common sense that they are probably not worth dealing with.

These things have all been said, before, but it’s worth repeating.

It's much too dangerous to recommend selling a Rolex online now whether you are posting it or metting a stranger, using escrow or cash.

The only safe way to sell a used Rolex is to take it to your local grey dealer and sell it over the counter. This is the only way you are not going to get stung, and that's worth the little extra cash.
why not use credible auction sites such as Loupethis? Grey market dealers will not give you the best price....

I had never heard of auction sites like this. Most people like me only know eBay and chrono24.

Why anyone would sell high value items on social media without taking precautions is beyond my comprehension.

Hello Kat, this wasn't me. Just something that I seen and shared. I've sold things online but I've always met at a local police station for the transition.
