I much prefer the 12 series.
The dial looks more refined, the metal outer bezel ring (if we're talking about the 126500) looks nice and vintage, but the absolute GAME CHANGER for me is the symmetrical case. Those asymmetric lugs on most of the old 11 series models were a monstrosity to my eye.

Thoughts on the new Daytona models
Quote:
Facts: 1. Gold is soft 2. The bezel edge is the first place you will see wear (dents, scratches, smoothing) My experience: 1. Purchased three 11651x (x=8 and 9) OF models. 2. Purchased black and white 116500 3. Purchased 126515 for my wife. My wife is far nicer to her watches, carefully wearing them only when going out. Her first time out wearing her 126515 (black dial with sundust subs), she barely bumped her watch on the under edge of granite table top at Disneyland Vacation club restaurant. When I got home, I could see her bezel edge was damaged. Louped it and found dent by lower pusher and scrape below that … all on RG bezel surround. My wife was sick about damaging her watch. She said, “I thought you said Rolex watches were robust?”. Meanwhile, my PN 116518 still looks like brand new. |

There is no more enthusiasm when a new 12-steel Daytona panda is presented, because the emotions that the old discontinued panda gave us all are unrepeatable. The black dial of the 12 is more beautiful than the discontinued, but white is and will be for everyone, the point of arrival. The dials of the full gold are another disappointment, in fact they are now available at a discount. The same goes for the new platinum Daytona, too similar to the discontinued, and with a visible caseback that few have understood.

I wasn’t too excited seeing the press release of the new Daytonas, but in hand different story. Traded both our 116500 black and white for the new 126500 equivalents |

Good morning! The new steel Daytonas have been completely modified, and I really appreciated this, the cases of the models in gold and platinum are aesthetically unchanged, I don't know why they opened the case back to platinum. Everyone increases in size because the lug to lug has changed. We all appreciated the Le Mans, because the designers had the strength to dare with an innovative dial, something that unfortunately was not thought of on the rest of the range, preferring to copy, but very badly

I love these...great great decision. The dimensions of the 12 series are much better and has garnered interest in people like me who never thought about buying Daytona.

Got to agree with above. I have three 11650X Daytona models that I absolutely love. The changes between the 116 and 126 models aren't enough to make me want to put any more money in towards a trade or have duplication in models between the series. I'm glad that Rolex did not change the Daytona significantly from the prior series as they still look beautiful and feel comfortable to wear daily.

Never been fan of the Daytona, until the 126 release. I really like the black dial steel version.
